We would like to congratulate Western Technical College (WTC) on receiving the VET Innovation for Schools award at the 2026 South Australian Training Awards! 🎉

Owned and operated by Mount Carmel College, WTC runs an Electrotechnology program that lets students complete their SACE and earn nationally recognised qualifications at the same time.

Their Work Ready Framework and purpose-built facilities prepare students for careers in the maritime, defence and construction industries.

For over 25 years, Catholic Education South Australia has pioneered Technical Colleges, and at Western Technical College, we are proud to continue that legacy.

By welcoming students across all three schooling sectors, we provide equal access to diverse skilled pathways—empowering every young person to become a thriving, capable learner and an extraordinary individual. Through robust industry partnerships, we bridge the gap between education and employment, connecting work-ready graduates directly with career-launching opportunities.

While we might not be the oldest of our three CESA Technical Colleges, this award recognises four years of innovation and hard work. That success rests entirely on the shoulders of the CESA Technical College leaders and pioneers who came before us.

A massive thank you as well to our training partner, TAFE SA, and the incredible training staff, managers, and directors whom we have the privilege of working with every single day.

Celebrating Our WorldSkills Regional Finalists! 🌟

Last Friday, 28 August, Western Technical College was proudly represented by an incredible group of 7 talented trainees—including 2 Plumbing trainees and 5 Electrotechnology trainees—at the WorldSkills Regional Final hosted at PEER.

Our students represented WTC terrifically, showcasing their hard work, technical skill, and dedication under competition conditions. The experience left a lasting impression on everyone involved:

From the moment she discovered the V8 Supercars Championship at just 12 years old, Rose has had one clear goal: to build an elite career in motorsport.

Balancing her studies at Immanuel College and the Western Technical College with a Certificate II in Automotive Servicing Technology (delivered in partnership with TAFE SA), Rose has taken charge of her future. By actively securing industry placements and building strong networks across the automotive sector, she’s turning her passion into reality.

Her strong work ethic, hands-on mechanical skills, and natural aptitude for the trade are paving the way for her ultimate dream: working as a lead mechanic on an international motorsport team. 🛠️✨

As a passionate advocate for women in motorsport, Rose is also breaking barriers and inspiring the next generation to dive headfirst into traditionally male-dominated industries.

June is a massive month for us here at Western Technical College! It’s a time to shine a light on the incredible industries that keep our world running, and we couldn’t be prouder to honor two pillars of vocational training: International Electrician Day and National Automotive Services Week.
