ஏதிலியாக வந்து பல காலமாக பேர்த், மேற்கு ஆவுஸ்திரேலியாவில் வசித்து வந்த விக்னேஷ்வரன் அவர்கள் நிரந்தர வீசா அற்று பல இன்னல்களுக்கு முகம் கொண்டுத்துவந்த நிலையில் இவ் உலகைவிட்டு பிரிந்தார்.

Day 103: AMA letter of support to pathway for permanent residency

Our words matter, our policies matter. Our politics matters. After 12 years of a race to the bottom by Labor and the Liberals wanting to look ‘tough on borders’ by othering, demonising and stereotyping all refugees and asylum seekers, is it any wonder that racists like the neo-nazis feel embolden to attack some of the vulnerable members of our community? Until the dogwhistling stops about refugees, until governments do more to counter the rise of far right extremists, these hateful groups will continue to show up on our streets and stoke fear and violence.

Help our Refugee Community:
Everyone deserves to live with security and dignity. A stable life is essential for good mental health and well-being. Young refugees need hope and a chance for a better future. By supporting these refugees, we can help reunite families and improve their mental and emotional health.

Stand up for Permanent Visas:
We are refugees who have been left behind for over 12 years. Many refugees have lived in Australia without a permanent visa. We pay taxes and contribute to Australian society. This long period of uncertainty has caused deep pain and suffering. Families have been torn apart, with loved ones separated for years.

Ongoing Issues:
Overlooked children: Many refugee children who arrived by boat with their parents are not eligible for HECS loans, making it nearly impossible to access education beyond Year 12.
They want to contribute to society but need the opportunities provided by permanent visas.
Family separation: Uncertainty causes extreme distress within families, leading to domestic violence, addiction, and emotional divorce. This is incredibly unhealthy for any family unit.
Separated from families overseas: Refugees have been unable to see their loved ones overseas, and sometimes they pass away, adding to the heartache.
Deprived businesses: Without stability, refugees cannot start businesses, obtain loans, or buy houses, preventing them from contributing to the economy.
Refugees in this condition lack access to Medicare and the right to work, relying on charitable support for essential needs. These constraints prevent them from achieving stability and contributing fully to society.
