I was very excited to receive first prize for one of my handmade creations at the Ipswich Show last week.
This scarf has a special story behind it. I actually spun the brown wool myself first, and because it was the very first wool I had ever spun, I had no idea how far it would go.
When I realised I didn’t have enough yarn for the original pattern I had planned, I had to pivot and design something completely different. I ended up using Tunisian crochet to create this scarf, and I’m so glad I did.
It makes receiving first prize even more special, knowing that this piece came from learning, problem-solving, and creating something beautiful with what I had.
Sometimes the best creations come from having to change the plan.
