Excitement built throughout the day for the final event to Service Week, the Ice Cold Courage for Cancer. The Hangar was buzzing as students cheered on a brave (and slightly apprehensive!) line-up of volunteers ready to take the icy plunge.
Our thanks to special guest Di Thomas, Director of the Sunshine Trust, for speaking with our community and receiving the heartfelt letters written by Year 9, along with Jess, who joined the daring group of swimmers – if we can call them that! Just some of the colourful dress ups taking the plunge were The Incredibles (aka our Year 12 College Vice Captains), Elsa from Frozen (aka Miss Tinney), spirited student footy fans giving a final cheer to the “Mighty Magpies”, a courageous brother-and-sister duo, not to mention many staff members simply embracing the moment, and then finishing in style, Mr Joel Klemke and Mr Brad Moss.
We also thank the Albury Wodonga Bandits for spending time with students and adding to the chorus of cheers. (We did notice that Mr Klemke stood on the stage box during the interview). An unforgettable and fun-filled afternoon… watching everyone freeze!
