International Day of Yoga & Summer/ Winter Solstice! It almost slipped past me with travel and both together.
A fitting pairing really.
In yoga, twists ask us to look back before moving forward. To see where weāve been, what weāve carried, what weāve outgrown, and what weāre ready to leave behind.
And isnāt life much the same?
Rarely is it a straight line.
Itās the unexpected twists and turns the losses, adventures, heartbreaks, births, risks and complete change of plans that shape us. They humble us, stretch us, strengthen us and add colour to our story.
The Summer Solstice marks the sun at its highest point in the sky. A moment of peak light. A pause. An invitation to reflect on all that has grown and to ask.. whatās next?
What is growing in my life?
What needs tending?
What am I ready to let go of?
The winter solstice in the South the longest night. A sacred turning point reminding us that after darkness comes light, and that rest and reflection are just as important as growth and doing.
Today, as I twist towards the horizon here in the North, Iām honouring every turn in the road that brought me here and turning with curiosity towards whatever comes next.
