🥁🐰Drum Roll!!!
⭐️Introducing our 5 Star Main Show Judge direct from the UK - Sarah Elliot! We are super excited to welcome Sarah to Australia for what is her first trip here! Ok, so here’s a quick introduction from Sarah herself!
🇬🇧Firstly, I would like to say an enormous Thank you to WARCI for inviting me to Perth to judge the Australian Championship Rabbit Show in 2026.
I am so looking forwarding to spending some time in Australia on what will be my first visit. I am travelling with my friend Claire. We met some 20+ years ago working in Veterinary Practice and have shared many holidays together since. This will be our biggest adventure to date. We plan to include Tasmania and Sydney in our visit.
I began showing rabbits in 1986, a French Lop bought from a local exhibitor. So when I travel to Perth I will have had them for 40 years. Which just sounds crazy and makes me feel incredibly old !
In 1988 my mum who had been taking me to these shows and sitting in a corner reading a book decided she couldn't do it any longer unless she had an interest. Along came the Cashmere Lop and shortly after we began showing in partnership (S&H Elliott). It was a difficult decision to let the Cashmeres go in the mid 90s but we found it hard to be sure we were finding them good homes.
In 1999 we started keeping a few Steel Dwarf Lops. Other colours followed but we only keep a few REWs now.
In 2010 I was asked to judge the 2011 Lop challenge at the Bradford Championship Show. I decided I would like a breed I could show in another section that year. That is when the Alaskas arrived.
In 2019 I imported three Groot Zilver konijngrijs from Holland. Over the following 5 years we set about getting them standardised in the UK and in July 2024 the Grande Argente St Hubert was accepted
I am on the 3* Senior judges panel for Fancy, Lop & Fur sections. National breed panel judge for Angora, Belgian Hare, Flemish Giant, Harlequin, RV Fancy, Tan. Dwarf, French, Cashmere, German, Mini & Lion Lop. Alaska, Argente, Conti Gi, New Zealand, RV Fur, Silver Fox, Smoke Pearl & Sable.
I really look forward to catching up with fanciers I have met in the UK or have as Facebook friends. Plus will enjoy meeting lots more like minded people.
Hope you all have a good breeding season and have plenty of rabbits to keep me busy over the judging weekend.
Best Wishes
Sarah
