What a Transformation!

The gardens and revegetation are now complete, and what an incredible way to finish! Our final day of planting and mulching was a mammoth effort, with Hawkesdale College students, staff and the GreenPrint Projects team working together to bring this vision to life.

Over 450 trees and shrubs planted
29 new species introduced to the site
New habitat created for local wildlife

The transformation is remarkable and is a wonderful example of how environmental education can elevate health, wellbeing, connection and learning.

This project is more than planting a garden. It is about young people getting their hands in the soil, working together, caring for Country and creating a healthier, more biodiverse place for everyone to enjoy.

The garden is planted. The habitat is growing. The legacy has begun.

Bringing the Hawkesdale Eco Track to Life

GreenPrint Projects is proud to partner with GPG Naturgy Group and Moyne Shire to bring the Hawkesdale Eco Track to life.

Their financial investment is enabling GreenPrint Projects to deliver authentic environmental action in schools, creating opportunities for students to learn through hands-on experiences while actively improving their school environment.

The Hawkesdale Eco Track is more than a garden project. It is a Living Classroom where students can explore biodiversity, sustainability, First Nations knowledge, habitat creation and the importance of caring for Country.

Through partnerships like this, we can support schools to create meaningful, long-term environmental outcomes while empowering young people to become active custodians of their local environment.

Seeds, Bees & Growing Green Futures

GreenPrint Projects is proud to continue our ongoing partnership with the Green Futures students and staff as they lead environmental initiatives across Warrnambool.

Today, we got hands-on making seaw**d and native seed balls, followed by a workshop on building bee and insect BnBs.

The young people loved getting involved, being creative and learning how small actions can create big benefits for biodiversity.

Eco Track planting definitely required some wet weather gear!

As the major planting of garden beds and revegetation progressed, we all found ourselves dodging showers and wild weather.

Students kept showing up, getting their hands dirty and getting the job done.

The resilience and commitment these young people continue to demonstrate is incredible.

The Hands on Learning students and staff have also built eight nesting boxes, creating valuable habitat for local wildlife.

Rain, mud and all, they are creating something that will grow well beyond the project — building biodiversity, caring for Country and making a lasting difference to their school environment.

EVENT ALERT!

Week 2 of the Hawkesdale P–12 Eco Track Project was sensational!

This week, students embraced a wide range of hands-on learning experiences that encouraged curiosity, creativity and a deeper connection with the natural world.

Together, students explored: Plant identification
Nest building and wildlife habitat homes
Investigating nature under the microscope
Making ice cream with Australian bush flavours
Soil testing
Site preparation through measuring and w**d removal
Filmmaking to document and share their learning journey.

Every activity was designed to inspire active learning while building practical skills, confidence and environmental stewardship. Students are not only learning about biodiversity and sustainability but also becoming leaders who care for Country and their local environment.

The Hawkesdale P–12 Eco Track Project continues to demonstrate how outdoor learning can strengthen student wellbeing, foster collaboration and create meaningful connections between curriculum, community and nature.

ECO TRACK AT HAWKESDALE P-12 COLLEGE.
Anthea and Chon were warmly welcomed by the school community during assembly before spending two inspiring days with students and staff, exploring ideas through a series of 'Think Tank' workshops.

We are also delighted to be partnering with Colleen Hughson from First Ladies Productions, who will document our learning journey while mentoring students to capture, create and produce their own media content throughout the project.

The Eco Track has been designed to support student health and wellbeing, provide authentic curriculum aligned learning, and create thriving habitat for local wildlife while enhancing the school environment for future generations.
