Voices are diverse. It’s really easy (perhaps lazy) to put someone’s singing or speaking voice into a category. Whether it’s a music genre, choral singing part and even gender; social norms are changing thankfully but not fast enough.

I remember going to a singing lesson many years ago and my coach at the time told me that I couldn’t sing a particular song because that’s a “girl’s song” and I should stick to singing “guy songs” if I wanted to get anywhere.

The great thing about the Estill Voice Training Model is that voices, whether speaking or singing are appreciated for their beauty and also the ability to make conscious choices on how we want to sound.
