PDA doesn't simply end when your childhood finishes...

It had been awhile but last night while getting the kids ready for dinner my nervous system absolutely came crashing down in a flight & fight state with absolute panic.

It wasn't a panic attack, i wasn't feeling anxious about anything in particular but within a matter of seconds while on the phone to my husband checking in on what time he thought he would be finishing work & heading home. His Answer: "about half an hour- finishing this & packing up" i felt my whole-body lose control, i lost all capacity to gather myself or communicate effectively- instead i felt rage, i fought him on the topic, i needed an accurate time, i needed to escape, i needed space.

My husband then had to support me so that i could gain back control of myself this meant in that moment i needed him to call back & check in 15 minutes, call me when he was back on the road and stay on call with me to keep me distracted. Distracted from what?. while i sat at the kitchen table trying to bring myself back down, i lost capacity to parent my children, support their needs and sort dinner out.

for the first time since my diagnosis I begged that i wish i didnt have pda, i wish my children hadn't had their struggles because then i wouldn't be so accepting of who we are as people. then i would still be masking like i had for the last 30 years & i would never unravel like this- i hated this feeling!

Upon reflection today i feel sad for the version of myself who was present last night, the pain she truly felt by how debilitating her symptoms were.

While i value the understanding & wisdom i show for myself & others with pda its an incredibly challenging life to live, our disbaility doesnt vanish just because we eit childhood into adulthood.

Maybe you're a parent with pda raising your own tribe & feel the ah ha.

If you've ever cringed because your child dropped an F-bomb in the middle of the supermarket or the floodgates of colourful language flow out.. you're not alone.

Swearing can be incredibly common for some PDAers, but it's rarely the whole story.

✨ Their nervous system is overloaded and the words burst out before they can filter them.

✨ Strong words match the intensity of what they're feeling inside.

✨ Swearing creates a moment of release when they're overwhelmed.

✨ In some cases, the "forbidden" nature of swear words makes them incredibly difficult to suppress—almost like an itch that has to be scratched.

swearing can be incredibly regulating to our nervous systems and a way in those moments to gain back control of a situation we feel we have lost all autonomy in.

Its important to know that its not always about disrespect & that it is showing you what is going on.

Many of you know me through my work supporting PDA and neurodivergent families.

That work isn't going anywhere. 💛

Supporting and advocating for PDA families continues to be at the heart of what I do, and I'm so excited to soon be launching my PDA Roadmap, which has been created to help parents move beyond behaviour and better understand, support and connect with their children.

But over the last year, something else has been growing in my heart.

How can we intentionally help children build the emotional skills they'll carry for life?

Not through pressure.

Not through compliance.

Not through trying to "fix" children.

But through connection.

That's how Bloom & Belong was born. 🌸

Bloom & Belong is a gentle whole-child wellbeing curriculum designed to help children understand themselves, build emotional confidence and develop lifelong wellbeing skills through meaningful conversations, creative activities and everyday experiences.

It's grounded in neuroscience, trauma-informed practice and neurodiversity-affirming principles, making it a beautiful fit not only for neurodivergent children, but for siblings and all children learning and growing together.

Each Friday, one new Bloom arrives by email.

Just one.

One topic.

One conversation.

One activity.

One small opportunity to slow down and connect.

Because I truly believe that lasting growth happens one meaningful moment at a time.

I have just launched an opportunity for you to join a group of Founding Families to journey through Bloom & Belong before it opens more broadly.

If you've been looking for a gentle, connection-first way to intentionally nurture your child's emotional wellbeing, I'd love for you to follow along as it grows.

You can access the program here

Thank you, as always, for being here. Your encouragement, trust and support mean more than you know. 💛

I did a very selfish thing...

Or did I?

Earlier this year life was hard, another difficult season for our family but it wasn't necessarily from our children, it was my pda, my nervous system I felt like I could no longer do it.

I hated my life, I hated our home, I hated our town, I lost capacity to connect

My husband had just finished up a contract & was in the process of looking for work, I started dreaming.

I dreamt of peace, of a new beginning, a chance to find myself, our family again.

I had dived myself into my work to avoid the reality.

When we were offered a contract up in North Tropical QLD, I felt like a weight was gone, could it put us in
A better position, a new home, a new chance to try again.

I convinced my husband & uprooted the kids, I bargained that we just needed 12 months..

We have now been here 3 months.

We had an awful experience on the road trip up that had us stranded with 2 burnt out parents, 4 kids & 2 dogs, there were moments I thought we were going to break, maybe a sign just to turn around?

I am so glad we didn't. While we are still adjusting & resetting everything up. But there are no regrets.
We are slowly regrouping with more capacity, I had no idea we had our own haven for regulation at a beach.

Life is quiet & nice, my nervous system is finally settling
& with this I have made a very difficult decision for my business.

I will no longer be offering Therapeutic Sessions, the Social Stencil Program or Autism Swim Lessons.

This page here will be focused on PDA with a signature course that I am currently building & look forward to supporting you through.

I know you worry that your child won't learn & you fear for their future selves.

But I can guarantee you as once a pda child myself. We learn & appreciate much more from natural consequences & collaborative conversations & problem solving.

Something most in society will never have any idea about.

Sleep deprevision is torture. It damages our physical, emotional & mental well-being but apparently this is part of parenting.

This level is not considered normal & certainly doesn't last for the majority into childhood, teen & adult years.

I think I'm being generous saying I get an average of 4 hours per night 🤦🤣

Bet you can relate?

16/06/2026

PDA is hard as a parent but it's even harder as someone with it.

We see everything!! We feel everything!!

You might look at this & say yep, I'm their safe person, are you truly in their life backing them 100%.

I thought I was that for my child, until I realized there was more I can do. the sooner I realized parenting wasn't getting me anywhere the quicker I turned to asking, getting curious, holding my word & being a friend was far more successful.

Did I drop boundaries? Nope they are still in place however they are purely around safety & respect. The little things they are gone.

We all start somewhere on this journey- me? I've been in it for 34 years and am managing 4 of us now. I made mistakes, I still worry but I'm pretty confident we are on the right track.

If your here & seeing this, maybe wanting some support- I'm honored to walk this with you.

✨ They're Finally Here! ✨

After countless lived experiences, many cups of cold coffee, forgotten to-do lists, half-finished planners, and years of navigating my own neurodivergent brain, I'm so excited to share that my Executive Functioning Resources are now available for purchase

https://bts.myflodesk.com/y900wopaxu

I created these resources because I know how frustrating it can be to:
💛 Know what needs to be done but struggle to get started.
💛 Feel overwhelmed by tasks that seem simple to others.
💛 Forget important things despite trying your absolute best.
💛 Feel stuck between wanting to do something and actually being able to do it.

Too often, executive functioning challenges are mistaken for laziness, lack of motivation, or not trying hard enough. The reality is that many neurodivergent individuals are working incredibly hard behind the scenes just to manage everyday demands.

These resources were created to be practical, neurodiversity-affirming, and realistic. No shame. No impossible expectations. Just tools designed to support real people with real brains navigating real life.

Whether you're a neurodivergent adult, supporting a child, teen, or family member, or simply wanting to better understand executive functioning, I hope these resources help you feel seen, understood, and supported.

Because sometimes the most powerful thing we can learn is that we're not the only one struggling to remember where we put the Christmas presents we bought six months early. 😉

In my bundle you will find:
🦋Self-assessment tool for your strengths & weaknesses
🦋 Hacks & Resources
🦋 Relatable Content
🦋 47 Worksheets!
