’Twas the night before Carnival,
And all through KPS,
The staff were tucked up early,
Preparing for success.

For weeks they had been training,
Their bodies pushed too far,
All for one important goal:
To beat the parents. By far.

The baton change was practised,
The tactics locked away,
Tomorrow is not just Carnival…
Tomorrow is THE day.

The parents may be confident,
They may think they’ve got speed,
But KPS staff have something more:
An overwhelming need…

To finally claim the glory,
To silence every cheer,
To stand victorious and yell:

“THIS. IS. OUR. YEAR!”

So sleep well tonight, parents.
Rest those ageing knees.
Stretch the hammies. Ice the calves.
Do whatever you please.

Because tomorrow when that whistle blows,
There’ll be nowhere left to hide.

The staff are coming for you.

One Team. One Family. One School. One Vision.
One very unnecessary level of competitiveness. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🏆😂

📅 Week 8, Term 3 Weekly Wrap💙🤍💙🤍

It’s ATHLETICS CARNIVAL WEEK! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🏆 Mrs Aim's favourite day of the year is almost here, and Friday is going to be a big one!

🏆 KPS Athletics Carnival: Friday

Our amazing P&C have organised a Subway lunch for the day. Each order includes a 6-inch sub, drink and cookie.

Orders are ONLINE ONLY through QuickCliq:
https://www.quickcliq.com.au/

A really important reminder for Friday: if you are taking your child home early, they MUST be signed out by a parent/carer at the score recording table. Only adults with prior collection permission will be able to sign a student out.

Once a student is signed out, they need to leave the carnival with you. They cannot be signed out and then stay to watch the rest of the day. This includes our Kindy and PP students. It is still a school day and the carnival is a school event.

And because Mrs Aim loves a full carnival right to the very end... every student who stays for the whole day will get a little reward on Monday! 😂

And parents, you might want to start warming up now... the staff are coming for you this year at the Athletics Carnival. 👀🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ Last year is still being discussed by some of us, so consider yourselves warned. 😂

💛 R U OK? Day: Thursday

We’re asking everyone to wear yellow on Thursday for R U OK? Day.

🚧 Orlando Street Bridge Closure

Water Corporation has advised that the Orlando Street bridge will be closed from Monday 7 September until Tuesday 15 September while works are undertaken. It may reopen earlier depending on progress, but please keep this in mind when planning your trip to and from school.

🎤 Rooms 3 & 4 Assembly

Rooms 3 & 4 have their assembly on Wednesday at 2:10pm. We look forward to seeing their families there!

🚪 Gate Duty This Week

ECE: Mrs Aim
Middle: Miss Edwards & Mr Walton
River Road: Mr Powers

Bring on Week 8... and more importantly, bring on Friday! 🏆💙🤍💙🤍

📚 Book Week

The costumes were phenomenal! Thank you for all the effort that went into putting them together, with or without your children's help. 😂 It made Book Week such a great day for our kids.

As a parent, I know the stress of creating just the right costume. My eight-year-old daughter, London, has high standards and, at times, very little faith in my ability to meet them, which is probably fair!

🍳 SMILE Breakfast

What a morning! We FINALLY have two BBQs, including a flat plate for the eggs, so we are no longer required to become egg ninjas while cooking! 😂

It was wonderful to see so many men who are important in our students' lives at school. Making the time to be there means a lot to us and, most importantly, to our kids.

🛝 Playground Update

Have we been talking about this upgrade for ages? Yes.

Does the fundraising feel never-ending? Also yes.

Will it be worth it? Absolutely.

We have big plans. We want to transform the junior and middle playgrounds, create a bike track for our ECE kids and even build our own version of a kids' Ninja Warrior course.

We are looking at investing around $200,000 into Stage One alone. Playgrounds are incredibly expensive, and we don't do things by halves at KPS. We want our kids to have something fantastic!

We are now meeting with playground companies, looking at designs and working out what we can achieve within our budget. We are getting closer, with more updates to come next term!

🚗 Parking and Crossings

Thank you to everyone following our Kiss and Drop rules. We have seen a much better flow of traffic this week, making the area safer for our kids.

Please also encourage your children to use the supervised crossings. We had another car drive through a crosswalk this week and continue to see vehicles travelling above 40 km/h.

A slightly longer walk is worth it. Please slow down and help us keep everyone safe. ❤️

🏃‍♀️🏆 SPORTS CARNIVAL WEEK IS COMING… 🏆🏃‍♂️

Our KPS Sports Carnival is next week and, well… Mrs Aim still hasn’t let last year go. 😂

For those who need a reminder, here is the footage from last year’s staff race, where Mrs Aim came in a very close second.

Has she moved on? Absolutely not.
Has she been thinking about it for the past 12 months? Quite possibly. 😂

And if you know KPS, you know the Sports Carnival means one other thing…

🎬 Our annual Sports Carnival video is coming!

It’ll be dropping Monday, so watch this space. 👀 We may have taken things up a notch this year…

And most importantly, save the date:

🏆 KPS SPORTS CARNIVAL
📅 Friday, 11 September

See you there! 💙💛

🤔 QUESTION OF THE WEEK…

Each week, we ask our KPS staff a random question. Sometimes they’re thoughtful. Sometimes they’re ridiculous. And sometimes they cause far more debate than anyone expected. 😂

This week’s question:

What colour is the number 5?

Seems simple, right?

Apparently not.

There have been some VERY strong opinions, heated discussions and genuine disbelief that other people see numbers as completely different colours. 😂

So now we’re bringing the debate to our KPS community.

👇 What colour is the number 5?

And yes, apparently there is a wrong answer… depending on which staff member you ask. 😂

Congratulations to all the winners!
