CERES School of Nature and Climate CERES has been delivering sustainability education to children and adults for almost four decades.

The CERES School of Nature and Climate is the evolution of CERES’ education programs into a focused response to the climate and ecological crisis we are facing. We have been teaching school students and the wider community about climate change and the environmental challenges we face before many people understood the science or even believed they could be impacted by these issues in their lifetimes.

Creating a more sustainable classroom doesn’t have to mean adding another big project to an already busy school year.

Often, it’s the small, everyday changes that add up. Better still, they can become opportunities for students to take responsibility, ask questions and see sustainability as something they can actively be part of. Hit the link in our bio to learn seven simple places to start. 💚

It turns out growing food is about much more than growing food.

There’s the soil, of course. Then the worms and microbes beneath it, the bees and other pollinators, the chooks scratching around the garden, the seasons and the weather - all connected, all playing a part.

The more you learn, the more you see the whole picture.

In CERES Complete Urban Farmer you learn it all: a deep dive into growing, soil, chooks, beekeeping and all the things that make an urban food system thrive. Explore all of our upcoming courses: https://school.ceres.org.au/adultlearning/

What a fantastic day at the Secondary Leadership Summit last week! Thanks to the support of , students came together to share ideas, make meaningful connections and explore how they can create positive change in their communities.

A special highlight was having Maribyrnong Mayor Mohamed Semra join the day. brought incredible energy to the summit, engaging directly with students, listening to their ideas and inspiring the next generation of leaders.

Last week, we were inspired by student leadership at the ResourceSmart Schools Awards – Victoria’s largest celebration of school sustainability 🌏
This year’s theme, Our Sustainable Community, highlighted what’s possible when schools, families and local partners work together to turn ideas into action at scale.

Across more than 50 projects, students and schools are driving real impact: cutting emissions by 260,000 tonnes, avoiding over 170,000 tonnes of waste, launching 140 new circular products and services, creating 220 jobs, and reaching 5,000+ professionals through training and support.

Proof that when young people lead, the impact is both practical and powerful. 🌱 Get your school involved in RSS via the link in our bio.

Teaching kids about sustainability isn’t about perfection. Small actions done consistently – growing herbs on a windowsill, bringing reusable bags to the shop, or talking about where food comes from – can shape lifelong habits and values.

The goal isn’t to raise perfect environmentalists, but thoughtful humans who understand that their actions matter. Read the full article at our link in bio. 🌻

The Victorian Container Deposit Scheme () is a great step towards reducing waste and a reminder to look a little closer at the containers in our homes and classrooms. 💚☺️

While not every item is eligible for a refund, many still have plenty of life left in them. With a bit of creativity, everyday containers can become useful tools for the garden, home or classroom.

Start by asking: what is this already good at? Waterproof, sturdy, clear, easy to hold? There may be more than one life left in it yet. Hit the link in our bio to read the article on upcycling and reusing these everyday items. ♻️
