๐ŸŽญ RAISE YOUR VOICE | 2026 DRAMA VICTORIA CONFERENCE ๐ŸŽญ

Drama education is not a quiet discipline.

It is bold. It is vital. And right now, we need to Raise Our Voice.

This yearโ€™s Drama Victoria Conference is a call to action โ€” an invitation to step forward not just as teachers, but as advocates, innovators, creators and change-makers.

Across two huge days, our program will explore five strands that speak to the power of our profession:

๐Ÿ“ฃ PITCH | Advocate
Champion Dramaโ€™s place in your school and community.

๐Ÿ“ก BROADCAST | Innovate
Connect with industry, technology and new ways of creating and teaching.

๐ŸŽญ PROJECT | Create
Dive into pedagogy, curriculum and brilliant classroom practice.

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ CHORUS | Connect
Share ideas, debate, collaborate and draw on the collective wisdom of our community.

๐ŸŒฟ BREATHE | Belong
Explore inclusion, differentiation, wellbeing and the conditions that allow every voice to grow.

And then there are our two keynote speakersโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ‘€

Who do you think theyโ€™ll be?

Weโ€™re announcing them very soon, and trust us: you are not going to want to miss either of them!

๐ŸŽ‰ It's here!

After many months of filming, writing, editing and collaborating with four remarkable Victorian schools, we're thrilled to launch The Art of Learning.

This free online resource showcases what quality Drama education looks like in practice through a series of documentary films and in-depth case studies featuring:

๐ŸŽญ Maryborough Education Centre
๐ŸŽญ Truganina Pโ€“9 College
๐ŸŽญ Derinya Primary School
๐ŸŽญ Queenscliff Primary School

At Drama Victoria, we often hear conversations about improving learning focus on what students should know.

But learning is about more than knowledge alone.

It is also about curiosity, imagination, collaboration, communication, empathy and confidence. It is about students making meaning through experienceโ€”thinking deeply, taking creative risks, solving problems together and discovering that their ideas matter.

That's why we've called this project The Art of Learning.

These schools demonstrate that creativity and rigour are not opposites. They show that Drama is a rigorous curriculum area where students develop both disciplinary knowledge and the capabilities they'll carry with them for life.

A heartfelt thank you to the teachers, school leaders and students who generously opened their classrooms and shared their practice. Your passion, expertise and commitment shine through every page and every film.

We also gratefully acknowledge the support of the Victorian Department of Education, whose support made this project possible.

๐Ÿ’œ We hope these resources inspire schools to reflect, adapt and imagine new possibilities for Drama education in their own communities.

Don't miss your chance to win this once in a lifetime opportunity with our mates over at Travel Gang! Apply now to win a scholarship to join their upcoming performing arts tour to the USA in January 2027. Check it out!

๐ŸŒŸTHE TRAVEL GANG THEATRE EDUCATOR SCHOLARSHIP: NOW IN ITS THIRD YEAR!๐ŸŽญ

We are thrilled to once again offer the Travel Gang Theatre Educator Scholarship, celebrating the extraordinary performing arts educators who inspire high school-aged students across Australia and New Zealand.

Now in its third year, the scholarship will provide one outstanding educator with a fully funded journey to the USA alongside the Aussie All-Stars in January 2027, valued at $14,000.

The recipient will travel to New York City, the Junior Theatre Festival in Atlanta and Los Angeles, taking part in professional development experiences, workshops and masterclasses, seeing Broadway productions, connecting with theatre professionals and experiencing the magic of the Disneyland Performing Arts program.

But the scholarship is about much more than an incredible trip. It is about investing in the people who invest so much in young performers.

By giving an outstanding educator the opportunity to learn, connect and be inspired on an international stage, we hope the experience creates a ripple effect, with new ideas, skills and inspiration returning to their students, colleagues and wider performing arts community.

The scholarship is open to performing arts educators currently working in Australia or New Zealand who teach high school-aged students, including teachers, directors, choreographers, music directors and drama tutors working in schools, studios or academies.

Applications are now open.

๐ŸŒ **How do we teach one of the most important issues of our students' generation without leaving them feeling overwhelmed?**

Climate change is already shaping the lives of young people. The question isn't whether we should teach itโ€”it's how.

Join us for Time to Act: Teaching Climate Change Through Student Agency, Resilience and Hope, featuring international guest scholar, Professor Kathryn Dawson, (University of Texas at Austin).

Discover how drama-based pedagogies can help students engage deeply with climate change and climate justice through creative, embodied learning that builds empathy, critical thinking, wellbeing, and a genuine sense of agency and possibility.

You'll explore practical approaches that align with curriculum priorities in sustainability, critical and creative thinking, and interdisciplinary learningโ€”making this valuable for teachers across all learning areas, not just Drama.

If you're looking for ways to empower students to tackle complex real-world challenges with confidence, creativity, and hope, this session is for you.

๐ŸŽญ Presented by Time to Act โ€” a partnership between the Centre for Regenerating Futures at Deakin University and Drama Victoria.
