I have been an Educator since 2011 working with families to help raise their young children in a quality homebased, nurturing, childcare environment. Family Day Care caters for a small group of 4 children under school age children each day and is a flexible alternative to long day care, inhome care or child care centres. Mango Hill Family Day Care works in conjunction with Kids at Home Family Day

Care Scheme. We take a hands on learning through play approach and I believe that play is most important for children aged 0-5yrs old. Children get the most out of play when the type of play suits their level of development and follows their interests. Mango Hill Family Day Care operates during Term times Tuesday-Friday

🌋🦖 A Roarsome Week Exploring Dinosaurs! 🦖🌋
This week we immersed ourselves in all things dinosaurs! One of the children’s favourite experiences was creating a lava for the dinosaurs using goop. The children loved squishing, stirring, and exploring the fascinating texture as it changed between solid and runny. It was the perfect extension of a favourite game, The Floor is Lava, sparking lots of imaginative play and conversation about how the goop felt in their hands.
Our dinosaur adventures continued into every lunchtime with delicious dinosaur-shaped toast, which was met with daily excitement! 🦕🍞
I love finding remnants of play around the room where one little one had been playing families with them. From sensory exploration to imaginative play and food experiences, our dinosaur theme inspired curiosity, creativity, and plenty of prehistoric fun! 💚✨

Happy Mothers Day to all the Mum’s. My little daycare crew got the chance to spoil their mums on Friday afternoon. Was a beautiful late afternoon / early evening spent with the ladies and seeing their children so excited to pamper them.

2 weeks ago I opened my front door ready to welcome the children when they arrived but I had a large surprise of a very different visitor! He hung around long enough for a couple of photos then scuttled off. He did think he’d try to join us for morning tea on the back patio hours later. We ducked inside to observe from behind the windows. He’s still the talk of the town with daycare children and they tell everyone they see about the big “stecko” on the patio.

Our Mango Hill Explorers were discovering cause and effect through a colourful sensory water tray filled with soft sponge cubes and lemon squeezers. As they soaked the sponges and placed them into the citrus squeezer, they discovered how squeezing released the water back into the tray. This simple but engaging experience supported the development of fine motor strength, hand–eye coordination, and early problem-solving skills. The children enjoyed experimenting with the different coloured sponges, watching the water drip and splash as they squeezed, creating a playful hands-on learning experience through sensory exploration. 💧🌈

Yesterday one of our beautiful little artists drew her day care family… and melted our hearts.

In her picture were all of her friends, myself, and even my own tween/teenage children — because to her, we’re not just a service she attends… we’re her people. Her safe place. Her village.

This is what family day care is all about.
Small numbers.
Deep connections.
Genuine belonging.

Here, children aren’t just enrolled — they are known, valued and included. They build friendships across ages, learn alongside one another, and feel secure enough to express themselves freely (and draw the whole crew in her favourite colour 💜).

With heavy rain forecast over the next few days, we’re turning our attention to indoor magic with our fairy small world play setup ✨🌿

Tiny houses, frogs, logs and whimsical fairies — the children’s imaginations will be in full swing! Small world play encourages storytelling, language development, creativity, and social skills, all while building focus and problem-solving as they create their own magical adventures.

One of the many benefits of home-based childcare is the calm, cosy environment that allows children to deeply engage in imaginative play — especially on those wet, rainy days. ☔🏡
