Breathing is the number one factor in limiting newbies to swim the distance. Every swimmer I meet is fit enough to swim 1km straight up, yet they are not breathing adequately to sustain the activity being performed. It has NOTHING to do with their fitness. There’s absolutely no point in moving on to body position, kicking and finally arms, power and timing it altogether…UNTIL you can comfortably breathe and free up some head 🧠 space.
The girls transformed their breathing and body position in the first half of the session, then transferred their new skills to a race setting. For newbies gaining control of their breathing after the rush of the start line is imperative to be a good race!!
Congratulations girls!!
If anyone’s keen I’m running another clinic this Sunday 16th Jan @ Mooloolaba Spit
