Sunshine Coast FC Appoints Bruno Pena Couto as High Performance Manager

Sunshine Coast FC—encompassing Sunshine Coast Sporting Academy and all affiliated ‘Fire’ academies—is proud to announce the appointment of Professor Bruno Pena Couto as the club’s new High Performance Manager.

Bruno is widely recognised as one of Australia’s leading experts in Sports Science and High Performance. He has been instrumental in the development of one of the country’s premier sports science and athlete performance programs, based at Peregian Beach College, where he has overseen the full-time academy athletes across Football, Basketball, Netball, and Dance.

In his expanded role, Bruno will work closely with Sporting Director Melvyn Wilkes to oversee the holistic performance framework across all sporting codes. This includes the technical delivery of each program and the strategic development of the academy’s growing global footprint.

This appointment marks another significant step forward in our commitment to elite athlete development.

Sunshine Coast ‘Fire’ Full-Time Netball Academy Trials EOI – Register Now!

Sunshine Coast ’Fire’ Netball Academy, in partnership with
Peregian Beach College, is excited to invite applications for our Full-Time Netball Academy based at Peregian Beach College!

We welcome applications from players between the ages 8 - 16.

Trial Date: 29 May 2025
Location: Peregian Beach College
Time: 13.00 - 16.30

On the day, parents and guardians will enjoy a guided tour of the facilities and have the opportunity to meet our full technical and performance staff. Meanwhile, potential athletes will be put through their paces by our highly qualified technical coaching team.

There will also be a chance to meet with Peregian Beach College’s academic staff to discuss the academic programs available.
