Meet the Soloists | Bridget Wegner

We're excited to introduce the second of five outstanding student soloists featured in the UQ Symphony Orchestra Concerto Concert on Sunday 13 September at 3.00pm in the GHD Auditorium.

Bridget Wegner is a Townsville-born, Brisbane-based violist currently studying a Bachelor of Music (Honours) / Bachelor of Science at UQ, where she studies with Professor Patricia Pollett. Bridget is Principal Viola of the UQ Symphony Orchestra and a 2025/2026 Next Gen Artist with Southern Cross Soloists. In 2025, she was awarded the Richard Pollett Prize. An active chamber musician, Bridget performs with the Cerulean Collective and Alfredo Collective, and has appeared at the SXS Chamber Music Festival, Long Listen Festival, Australian Youth Orchestra Summer Music Festival, Festival of Outback Opera, and alongside members of Ensemble Q.

Join us to hear Bridget perform Walton's Viola Concerto, alongside four other exceptional young performers with the UQ Symphony Orchestra in an afternoon showcasing some of the School's most talented musicians.

Meet the Soloists | Andy Liu

We're excited to introduce the first of five outstanding student soloists featured in the UQ Symphony Orchestra Concerto Concert on Sunday 13 September at 3.00pm in the GHD Auditorium.

Andy Liu is a second-year Bachelor of Music / Bachelor of Mathematics student at the UQ, studying clarinet with Kinnane Professor of Music Paul Dean. Andy performs regularly with the Queensland Youth Symphony, UQ Symphony Orchestra and Australian Youth Orchestra programs, and is an active chamber musician with several UQ ensembles. Alongside his performance work, he is also developing his skills as an emerging conductor.

Join us to hear Andy play Weber's Clarinet Concerto No. 1, and four other exceptional young performers with the UQ Symphony Orchestra in an afternoon showcasing some of the School's most talented performers.

Join us for a special celebration of more than four centuries of Italian opera.

After a series of intensive workshops with renowned Italian opera specialist Otello Visconti, UQ Singers take to the stage for a concert celebrating the rich tradition of Italian opera.

Featuring guest artists Lucia Casbarra, Rosario La Spina, Milijana Nikolic, Nick Kirkup and accompanied by Šárka Budínská, this special performance showcases repertoire from Monteverdi and Rossini to Verdi and Puccini.
