A big hello everyone! 👋

After a VERY busy few months of fundraising efforts and sponsor seeking we've had a bit of a lull.

You may be aware that on Feb 22nd a cartel leader, El Mencho, was killed whilst being arrested.
This led to riots, violence, highway blockades, burned vehicles, airport disruptions and unrest in Jalisco and its capital city (Guadalajara) - exactly where we were headed. 🔥

Consequently, we have made the very hard decision not to head to Mexico at this time, as it's certainly not the safest place to be taking a children's team.

While this is disappointing, unfortunately, despite our best fundraising efforts, we also haven't been able to reach our fundraising targets in time. We gave it a red hot go but we were a long way off in the end. 💰

We have reached out to FIRST Australia to see if there may be another option for our team to compete in the Internationals, perhaps here in Australia. At this stage we are yet to hear but we will post another update once we know more.

In other news.. this event is happening right now in Ulverstone 😍🎉

The Brick Buddies have bins on site to collect recycling bottles and cans, all proceeds going towards our fundraising goal.

If you are a business who would be willing for us to do the same at your workplace, please let us know! Every single dollar helps!

If you are an event organiser, we'd love to hear from you and we'd be grateful for the opportunity to have these bins at your event 🙏(bonus- less cleanup afterwards! 😉)

The sun is out, it's the most beautiful day here in Ambleside! ☀️

These eager beavers are going to be outside 30 River Road all day, they've got a wide variety of homemade bits and pieces, plus their fundraising Easter eggs, chocolates & lollies 🍫🤗 🎉

The Devonport Regatta is happening too, so
if you're coming past for that, please stop and say hello and show your support!

The Brick Buddies crew & one enthusiastic sibling 😀

They've been doing much chocolate selling over the past couple of months, you may have seen them out and about?

Tomorrow, SAT 21ST FEB, the older girls are going to be set up along the main road of Ambleside (outside the house pictured) and they'll be selling the Cadbury Dairy Milk fundraising chocolates & Easter eggs as well as an assortment of their homemade wares ! ✨ ✨

If you are passing by, or out and about in town, they'd be thrilled if you could pop along and support their little stall!

Three amigos!

There is a lot of time and effort that goes into prepping for a First Lego League competition.

The kids come together so enthusiastically each week!
They come with their different skills, talents and giftings.

Some are wired for engineering, some for creativity and design, some for presenting and speaking.

It's a lovely thing to watch young people bring the best of what they have to the table.
(or in this case, the floor!)

We’re incredibly proud of The Brick Buddies and everything they’ve achieved so far! 💛🤖🌏

This amazing team is heading to the FIRST LEGO League International Open Championship in Mexico this May — an extraordinary milestone in just their first year in the program.

Out of hundreds of FLL teams from all across Australia, the Brick Buddies are:
🇦🇺 One of only 8 Australian teams competing internationally
🌏 The only Tasmanian team advancing to international competition (and just the second this decade)
🇲🇽 The only Australian team heading to Mexico

An incredible achievement — and one that absolutely deserves the backing of our whole community.

We’ve been proud to support the Brick Buddies along their journey with mentoring, free access to equipment, and support to attend the Australian National Championships. Now they need our help to take the next step.

Getting a student team to an international championship is a huge undertaking, and they are working incredibly hard to fundraise and secure sponsorship to make this opportunity possible.
