Hosts for the Aboriginal Education Assembly Day at SJKB
We were incredibly proud to welcome more than 55 Aboriginal Education Teachers and Aboriginal Education Workers from across the Diocese to St Joseph's Primary School, Kilaben Bay, for the recent Aboriginal Education Assembly Day.
A highlight of the day was an inspiring On Country experience led by our very own Nate B (Year 5 Cultural Leader). Nate confidently shared his knowledge of Country, helping participants deepen their understanding of the local landscape, its cultural significance, and the importance of connection to Country. His leadership, pride in culture and passion for sharing knowledge were truly remarkable and made us immensely proud.
Participants also learned about our highly successful Rangers Program, which empowers students to develop leadership skills, cultural knowledge and a strong sense of custodianship for Country.
Throughout the day, staff engaged in hands-on workshops focused on strengthening cultural capacity and embedding Aboriginal perspectives across teaching and learning. These rich learning experiences provided opportunities for collaboration, reflection and the sharing of best practice from schools across the Diocese.
A special thank you to Mrs Hession, Nate, our staff and everyone involved in making the day such a meaningful and successful experience. We are honoured to play a role in supporting culturally safe, inclusive and engaging learning environments where all students can thrive.
