Little chefs at work! 🍳✨

There is something truly magical about watching children lose themselves in play. Our mud kitchen has been buzzing with creativity lately mixing, pouring, exploring, and imagining. This is where some of the richest learning happens; out here in the fresh air with their hands and their big, beautiful ideas. 🌿

What might look like “just playing” to the outside is actually so much more. When children engage with a mud kitchen, they are developing mathematical thinking measuring, comparing quantities, and understanding concepts like full, empty, heavy and light. They are building scientific curiosity as they observe how water changes the texture of soil, how materials mix and transform, and how cause and effect plays out right before their eyes.

Language and communication flourish naturally in spaces like this. Children negotiate roles, share ideas, tell stories through their play, and build rich vocabulary. We hear the most beautiful little conversations. 💬

There is also something deeply important happening socially and emotionally. Children learn to take turns, collaborate, lead, follow, and work through moments of frustration all within the safety of imaginative play. These are the foundations of resilience, empathy, and connection.

Our outdoor environment has been intentionally designed to invite exactly this kind of open-ended, child-led exploration. From the mud kitchen to the tyre gardens and loose parts, every element exists to spark curiosity and honour children as capable, creative learners. 🌱

This is childhood done beautifully. And we wouldn’t have it any other way. 💛

🌿✨ This week, our little learners are exploring, creating, and connecting through play inspired by National Reconciliation Week.

We’ve set up a beautiful provocations inviting children to engage with natural materials, shells, driftwood, pine cones and hand painted story stones alongside three colours of playdough in shades that reflect the earth, the land, and the sky. The story stones have been carefully placed to spark curiosity and conversation, featuring symbols and markings that invite children to wonder, ask questions, and begin to explore the rich cultures and histories of Australia’s First Nations peoples.

And look at our beautiful Sea of Hearts filling our windows! 💛🖤❤️ Each heart has been painted by one of our children, every single one unique, colourful, and full of expression. Together they create something truly beautiful with many different voices, stories, and perspectives, coming together as one.

Through open-ended, child-led play and creative expression, our educators are supporting meaningful conversations about Country, connection, and community.💛🖤❤️

🌟 Team Member of the Month – Miss Zoe

Zoe brings something truly special to our nursery room, a quiet steady calm that our youngest children respond to beautifully. Her natural nurture shines in everything she does. Our children thrive in her care, and her presence lifts the whole room. We are so lucky to have her as part of our community.
