Campion College Student Association

The annual Campion silent retreat was held from the 21st-23rd August at Carmel House in Varroville. We were accompanied by Fr Peter and Fr Lam, a Franciscan friar who gave four inspiring talks on the life and spirituality of St Francis of Assisi. It was a wonderful opportunity to step away from the busyness of campus life and dedicate time to prayer, reflection, silence and being immersed in nature. Fr Lam encouraged us to pay attention to our “nudges” from God, reminding us that God is constantly working within us, even when we may not recognise it. He also encouraged us to be in the presence of what is in front of us, advising us to slow down and “stop and smell the flowers and look at the butterflies.” His reflections on silence were particularly meaningful. I thoroughly enjoyed this retreat and am very grateful to have had this opportunity. I would especially like to thank Fr Lam for generously sharing his wisdom, and Fr Peter for organising such a peaceful and meaningful two day retreat and for giving us the opportunity to step away from the demands of everyday life.
