Ok this is the release of a large Eastern Brown snake I caught this morning that had been seen numerous times and in very close proximity to this gentleman’s living quarters.

This is the Eastern brown that I was called about a few days ago.
I went to the elderly gentleman’s house just to wait and see if the snake was there and to get a hands on, of where it was hanging out.
Luck was on our side as while I was checking out the area every few minutes while talking to Neil and learning a bit about his life the snake decided to come out. The day was overcast but breaks in the clouds were obviously favourable enough to lure out our friend.
I was actually surprised at, Firstly the size of this snake and, Secondly how rugged it looked, the scales looked rough and gnarly but this was an old snake and just gave off that don’t mess with me stare.
Well sure enough I didn’t have to wait long, I slowly climbed over some pallets to get behind the snake, given it was on the steep slippery side of a levy bank covered in dew. As I moved in on the snake it gave the big standing up S bend strike pose, mouth gaping warning me to back off, it lunged twice and I had my snake bag in front of me. Then it made a break for the pallets I had just climbed over and I was able to grab the last foot of tail.
It was actually pretty calm after I had it, but I wasn’t going to muck around just because of the size and the position I was in. Once in the bag Neil said that it was bigger than he thought. He was very happy to know the snake was going on a holiday.
I will post a video of the release.
Ps have a look at the old injury on the side of this old snake. That would’ve hurt when it happened. I didn’t notice the injury until I saw it on the release video. It certainly wasn’t hindering the snake at this stage.

Howdy, I recently made an app for snake catchers, since making the app, some people requested a wildlife one ... So here it is. There aren't many wildlife rescuers on it yet...but hopefully more will join in the coming weeks.

The purpose of the app is to link members of the general public to those who rescue wildlife. It's simple, you type in your postcode, and it will bring up those who help in that area, and their phone number. You can go a level deeper and even click on the emoji of the animal you need help with, 🦘 🐨 🐦 🦅 🦎 🐍 etc, and it will filter those who have experience with those animals.

It will also help connect you as a rescuer, with other people who may be able to help, if you get a call to an area you aren't familiar with...you can use the app to point them in the right direction ... If you have an animal you aren't familiar with, you can filter and contact someone who might have experience with what you need. there is an opening message letting users know that some listings are paid services (as most people who work with snakes charge) but also encouraging people to donate to shelters if they can.

It's completely free for you, and everyone else.

Hopefully this will reduce the amount of calls you get 2+ hours, after it was originally called in,.making sure our beloved wildlife gets help as quickly as possible.
