It was a very special day at Enchanted Childhoods today as our Wild Hearts celebrated book week with a visit from a real life Australian author. Big thanks to Heather Freeman from Little Australian Stories who came and visited our group for a special reading of her books. We shared the stories of Koala Sam, Koala Samson’s Birthday Song, and the Darling Murray Darling continuing our interest in learning about the beautiful animals that call Australia home.

We love sharing stories together as they build early literacy skills and a love of reading, transport us to different worlds, and inspire boundless play opportunities. Across the day we talked about the parts that make up a story, created our own stories, drew illustrations, and reenacted stories with our puppets and Australian animal figures.

🌱✨ Monday Wild Hearts Week 5 ✨🌱
We slowed down to notice the “tiny perfect things” in nature—wondering, asking questions, and appreciating the details others might miss. Nature wands, painting, pipe and ramp creations, and a visit from cheeky Gary the goat made for a day filled with curiosity, creativity, and laughter!

🌳💚 Wednesday Wild Hearts 💚🌳
This week we came together to talk about how we can take care of ourselves, each other, our special place, and the environment. We shared ideas, roasted marshmallows around the fire, and enjoyed caring for our animals—learning their names and routines. Imaginative and construction play helped us find roles and include everyone, while exploring nature continues to make our hearts and minds strong. Our growing group is building new friendships and a wonderful sense of belonging with every adventure!

It was a wonderful winters day for Wild Hearts on Monday and our explorers enjoyed the opportunity to continue our investigation of the Tiny Perfect things in nature. We especially enjoyed our bug expeditions- noticing the minibeasts who enjoy the wet conditions 🐌🪱. We tested our scientific thinking 🧠 by creating an experiment to test whether a snail will cross out of a border drawn on a piece of paper, observed snail trails up close, and experimented with mixing up our own snail slime! We also enjoyed time with our other farm friends, plenty of muddy puddle fun, and preparing and sharing a lemon cake together we cooked over our campfire 🫶

🌳🐌 Wednesday Wild Hearts 🐌🌳
We explored our new snail terrarium today—sharing what we know and discovering more about these tiny creatures together. Muddy puddles, tree climbing, scarf dancing, and role play kept our group active and creative. Lunchtime conversations and new friendships made the day extra special. Take two on damper was more successful, we are learning that experimenting is all part of the fun!

🐌🌿 Monday Wild Hearts 🌿🐌
We were all about tiny wonders today—exploring our new snail terrarium, sharing facts, and learning more together. Crafty creativity, spider and web spotting, building, swinging, and leaf printing kept us busy. We baked pear crumble on the fire and mixed up magical potions—making memories, connections, and lots of fun along the way!
