🍣πŸ₯’ Exploring Japanese Cuisine in Seahorse Room! πŸ‡―πŸ‡΅βœ¨

Our Seahorse children have been exploring Japanese cuisine through dramatic play in our kitchen, so we decided to extend their learning with hands-on cooking experiences! πŸ‘©β€πŸ³πŸ‘¨β€πŸ³

The children enjoyed preparing and cooking some of their favourite Japanese dishes, exploring new flavours, ingredients and cooking techniques. We also had lots of fun attempting to use chopsticks. A wonderful opportunity to practise coordination, fine motor skills and persistence! πŸ₯’πŸ’ͺ

Through play, cooking and shared experiences, our little learners are developing their confidence, curiosity and appreciation for different cultures. πŸ’›πŸŒ

Last week was all about cozy moments and caring hearts! πŸ’•πŸ§Έ
We enjoyed a fun filled Pyjama Week, keeping warm and cozy in our favourite PJs while making lots of special memories together. πŸ’€βœ¨

We also proudly supported the Mark Hughes Foundation, wearing our beanies and raising much needed funds for brain cancer research. πŸ’™

Thank you to all our wonderful families for getting involved and helping us make a difference! Together, we can keep spreading kindness, raising awareness and supporting such an important cause. πŸ’™

NAIDOC Week Celebration πŸ–€πŸ’›β€οΈ

Throughout NAIDOC Week, we celebrated and learned through a variety of meaningful experiences, including stories, songs, dance, creative activities, and opportunities to connect with community. These experiences encouraged the children to deepen their understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, and traditions.

To conclude our week, we welcomed our friends from Garawa Preschool to join us for a special performance by the Berkeley Vale Aboriginal Dance Group. Through dance, the children experienced the sharing of stories and culture, enthusiastically joining in as they learned the movements and actions of different native animals.

We then came together to enjoy a shared morning tea and participate in fun activities, strengthening friendships and celebrating the importance of belonging, connection, and community. It was a wonderful way to finish a week of learning, respect, and celebration together. β€οΈπŸ’›πŸ–€πŸŒ±

To celebrate NAIDOC Week, the children connected with Country through a hands on bush tucker experience. We collected fresh lemon myrtle leaves from our bush tucker garden to make delicious lemon myrtle damper and gathered native lily pilly berries to create a sweet lily pilly jam to enjoy on top.

Using the fire to cook our damper, the children experienced a traditional way of preparing food while learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, the importance of native plants, and caring for Country. It was a meaningful experience that encouraged curiosity, respect, and a deeper appreciation of the knowledge and traditions of Australia’s First Nations peoples. β€οΈπŸ’›πŸ–€

What an incredible fortnight we’ve had with our fluffy visitors! πŸ₯πŸ¦†πŸ’›
Our chicks and ducklings have brought so much joy, wonder, and meaningful learning to our preschool. The children have loved observing their growth, handling them gently, and learning how to care for living things with kindness and respect.

Throughout the experience, we explored learning across many areas:
πŸ₯ We investigated early maths by creating tally charts to count how many chicks and ducklings we had and recording the different colours we observed.
✍️ Together, we created an agreement about how we would safely and respectfully care for our feathered friends, encouraging responsibility, empathy, and teamwork.
🎨 The children expressed their ideas through paintings, drawings, and creative craft inspired by the chicks and ducklings.
πŸ” We asked questions, made observations, shared our discoveries, and developed a deeper understanding of life cycles and the natural world.

Experiences like these inspire curiosity, nurture compassion, and create lasting memories while supporting learning through play.

Thank you to our adorable feathered friends for making these past two weeks so special! 🌼✨
