On Tuesday The Basin Community House and Onemda jointly hosted a morning tea fundaraiser for The Cancer Council's Biggest Morning Tea.
Our Onemda cooking students made scones and slices, and some of our Community House staff and volunteers made cakes and sanwiches.
There was a lucky door prize, a raffle, and some tea inspired games.
We had a fantastic turn out of Onemda staff and family members, as well as members of The Basin Community House community.
While we are still doing a final tally of funds raised, we didn't want to waste any time in sharing some photos of the day, and once again saying a massive Thank You to everyone who supported this event.

Where would we be without our committee of management? This group of volunteers probably have the hardest job for the least acknowledgement, since they make all the important decisions behind the scenes. Thank you.

Our charity group volunteers dedicate an awful lot of time and effort to knitting and crocheting items to directly donate, as well as to raffle off to raise funds, and putting together parcels of donated items for various charities in the area. Thank you all.

Sometimes in the day to day hustle and bustle we might not take as much time as we should to acknowledge and thank the people who volunteer their time and effort to help us keep things running here at the community house. So volunteer week is a great reminder to give a big shout out to our amazing volunteers for everything they do for us, and everyone who attends our centre. Thank you so much!

This week is National Volunteer Week, and our community house would really struggle without the dedication of our tireless band of volunteers.
From the front of house volunteers everyone sees at reception, to those who work quietly on charity projects at home, with a wide variety in between, we appreciate everything you do.
Thank you, this week and always.

The World Health Organisation reports that lonliness affects nearly 1 in 6 people globally. Neighbourhood Houses and Community Centres respond to this challenge every day by creating inclusive, community-led spaces where people can connect, share meals, build relationships, and feel a sense of belonging.
The Keep Our Doors Open Campaign is still running, asking the government to commit to providing ongoing funding for the industry. You can support the campaign through the NHVic page here https://www.facebook.com/neighbourhoodhousesvic

Today we celebrate all the mumma’s — in every form.
To every person who nurtures, comforts, guides, protects, cheers us on, and shows up with love — thank you.
Whether you’re a mum, step-mum, foster mum, grandmother, aunt, chosen mum, dad taking on the mum role, or someone who simply mothers with kindness and care — today we celebrate you.
Your love helps build stronger families, communities, and connections every day.
Wishing all our amazing mumma’s a day filled with love, appreciation, and a well-deserved cuppa
