🐞 Insect Hunt at the Park 🦋

Today, the children took sheets featuring pictures of different insects and headed to a nearby park for an exciting insect-hunting adventure!

Once we arrived at the park, the children held their insect sheets and carefully searched around the grass, leaves, flowers, tree trunks and pathways for insects that matched the pictures. They closely compared the insects’ colours, shapes and features to see if they could find them in the natural environment.

Whenever the children spotted an insect that looked like one on their sheet, they became very excited and pointed to the picture, sharing with their educators and friends, “I found one!” and “This one looks like my picture!” Educators encouraged the children to name the insects and observe where they lived, how they moved and what special features they had.

During the insect hunt, the children learned to observe insects gently, respect living creatures and avoid disturbing their natural habitats. By matching and comparing the pictures with insects found in the environment, the children developed their observation, recognition, comparison and communication skills.

This engaging insect hunt gave the children a meaningful opportunity to explore nature with a purpose. Through searching, observing, comparing and discovering, they developed curiosity and a growing interest in insects and the natural world. 🌿🔍🐜🐞🦋

📚🌟 Book Week Celebration 🌟📚

Today we celebrated Book Week, and our room was filled with colour, excitement and lots of wonderful characters!

The children arrived wearing a variety of special costumes inspired by their favourite books, stories and characters. We saw princesses, superheroes, animals and many other creative outfits. The children were excited to show their costumes to their friends and educators, proudly talking about who they were dressed as.

During group time, we shared some of our favourite books together and encouraged the children to look at the pictures, recognise familiar characters and talk about what was happening in the stories. The children enjoyed listening, communicating their ideas and sharing this special experience with their friends.

Book Week provided a wonderful opportunity to develop the children’s interest in books, storytelling and early literacy, while also supporting their confidence, imagination and sense of belonging.

It was a fun and memorable Book Week celebration filled with stories, imagination and lots of smiles! 📖✨

Today, our Kinder children participated in an engaging and educational Road Safety Incursion. Through interactive games, storytelling, and real-life scenario activities, the children learned important road safety skills in a fun and meaningful way. During the session, the children learned how to cross the road safely by remembering to Stop, Look, Listen and Think before crossing. They also explored the meaning of traffic lights, pedestrian crossings, road signs, and the importance of following road safety rules. Through role-playing and hands-on activities, the children practised being safe pedestrians by holding an adult’s hand, waiting for the green light, staying aware of their surroundings, and keeping a safe distance from moving vehicles, especially in car parks. The children actively participated throughout the incursion, asked thoughtful questions, and shared their own experiences. This valuable learning experience helped to build their awareness of road safety while developing confidence, decision-making skills, and the ability to make safe choices in everyday situations.

The newly set up Play Centre at the service provides children with a safe, fun, and challenging environment for exploration and learning. Through activities such as climbing, stepping over obstacles, balancing, crawling, and riding, children are able to develop their gross motor skills, body coordination, and balance while also building confidence and independence in problem-solving.

The Play Centre encourages children to learn important social skills through play, including taking turns, sharing space, cooperating with others, and communicating their ideas. The variety of play equipment also stimulates children’s imagination and creativity, allowing them to explore freely and experience joy through active play. This environment helps children develop a positive interest in physical activities while supporting their physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development.

Kinder Excursion to the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV)

Today, the Kinder children had an exciting excursion to the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV). The children enjoyed exploring the gallery and discovering a variety of artworks, sculptures, and creative displays. They were encouraged to look closely at the artworks, share their ideas, and talk about what they could see, feel, and imagine.

During our visit, the children developed their curiosity and creativity by observing different colours, shapes, patterns, and materials used by artists. They enjoyed asking questions, discussing their favourite artworks, and expressing their own thoughts and interpretations.

The excursion provided children with an opportunity to experience art beyond the classroom and supported their imagination, communication skills, and appreciation of different forms of creativity. The children demonstrated excitement, respect, and confidence while exploring a new learning environment.

It was a wonderful day filled with discovery, creativity, and meaningful learning experiences.

Today we went on an excursion to the Body Worlds exhibition in Melbourne, and it was so much fun!

We saw real human body specimens and learned that our bodies have bones, muscles, a heart, lungs, and a brain. Our teachers told us that our heart keeps beating “thump, thump, thump” to pump blood around our body. Our lungs help us breathe, and our brain helps us think and learn.

We also saw many different body poses, which were very interesting and amazing. It felt a little different at first, but our teachers stayed with us the whole time and helped us learn. They also taught us how to take care of our bodies by exercising, drinking plenty of water, and eating healthy foods so we can grow strong and healthy.

We learned so many new things on this excursion, and we were very happy to explore the exhibition together with our teachers and friends. Thank you to our teachers for taking us on such a fun and educational excursion!
