'TDP' is a not-for-profit, community preschool located in the beautiful Manning Valley. The more exploration we make, the more knowledge we gain.
Taree and District Preschool Philosophy
We would like to acknowledge the Biripi people as the traditional owners of this land and pay our respects to their elders past, present and emerging. We Believe
Early Childhood is a time of rapid development, growth and learning. It is a time for children to explore, discover, create and imagine in the environment around them. It is paramount that the envi
ronment is safe, secure and enriched with happiness, kindness, respect and love. All children’s development is different and unique, where mile stones are reached at different times in each child’s life. Through positive guidance, modelling and intentional interactions educators can build authentic relationships. Taree and District Preschool recognises that diversity contributes to the rich tapestry of our preschool community. All children and families will be treated equally without bias or prejudice and be respected in support of their background, race, religion, socio economic status and diverse family network. We also respect the personal attributes and philosophies of our Educators. The preschool curriculum style has been developed from reflecting upon The National Early Years Learning Framework, Belonging, Being and Becoming, The National Quality Standards, pedagogy and community contexts. The preschool will use a play based, emergent style curriculum that involves collaborative partnerships between educators, children and families and provides a balance between child led, child initiated and intentional teaching. We believe children gain and grow through risk taking and exploration in the natural world. We believe in the importance of the environment acting as a third educator and humbly include the natural world in this statement. We believe that life is an exploration of our environment and it’s inhabitants. We understand that for this exploration to be meaningful, the child must be an active participant in their learning and will be valued as such. We draw upon the knowledge shared from Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander people about the importance of caring for Mother Earth and aim to grow culturally as a community of learners. We believe that with honest recognition of our past we can provide opportunities for children to grown in and share a sense of pride in their culture, language, community and Country, and as such we can provide opportunities for the next generation. Through observation, conversation and reflection of daily events children’s learning and development will be documented by means of the daily journal, digital photography, child portfolios and learning stories. Educators will be thoughtful and respectful when displaying children's learning and the processes to communicate to children that their work is valued, confirming that this is their space and therefore fosters a sense of belonging. Children will be given large blocks of time for uninterrupted work and play in the indoor and outdoor environments to promote sustained conversations and deeper learning. Children will be given every opportunity to build self-help skills, independence, resilience and self-esteem in daily experiences, provided in an environment that offers assistance, acknowledgement and encouragement to enable children to attempt tasks more confidently and effectively tomorrow. The preschool community will also encourage children to become aware of their global responsibility, and they will be given opportunities to be productive and positive contributors to human equality and our planet’s sustainability. It is vital that educators and families work as a team to develop policies, procedures and a positive preschool culture. This in turn can be used as an effective tool to accomplish success for all. This is a continual process that requires reflection and ongoing evaluation and that welcomes the entire preschool community to have shared involvement.

🧪💚 SCIENCE WEEK FUN AT PRESCHOOL! 🔬✨
What a wonderfully messy, bubbly and exciting Science Week we’ve had at Preschool!
Our little scientists have been busy mixing, pouring, squeezing, experimenting and investigating as they explored what happens when different ingredients are combined. There were bubbles, foam, colour and plenty of excited reactions! 🫧🧪
Hands on science experiences encourage children to wonder, predict, problem solve, experiment and ask questions, while discovering that learning can be lots of fun.
The best kind of science is definitely the kind where everyone gets a little messy! 💚😂
Happy Science Week from our curious little scientists! 🔬🧑🔬✨

🌿 Exploring Our Community 🌿
A big thank you to First Steps Count Child and Family Hub for welcoming our children today and allowing us to visit and explore your wonderful outdoor environment. 💚
The children had such a great time climbing, balancing, exploring and challenging their bodies in the beautiful natural play space.
Outdoor play in natural environments provides so many valuable learning opportunities. It supports children to develop confidence, coordination, balance, strength and problem solving skills, while encouraging curiosity, independence and appropriate risk taking. 🌳🍃
Community visits like this also help our children build a sense of belonging and connection to their local community, experience new environments and develop confidence when exploring beyond the Preschool.
Thank you First Step Count for having us. We loved our adventure! 💚🌿

💛 Thank You, Camp Quality! 💛
A huge thank you to Camp Quality for visiting our Preschool today and sharing their wonderful Puppet Program with our children.
Through lots of laughter, fun and engaging storytelling, the puppets helped children learn about cancer in a gentle, age appropriate and reassuring way. The program encourages understanding, kindness, empathy and inclusion, while giving children the opportunity to ask questions and learn that it’s okay to talk about difficult topics. 🌈
The children were completely captivated and there were certainly plenty of smiles and laughs throughout the show! 🥰
We are so grateful to Camp Quality for the incredible work they do supporting children and families impacted by cancer, and we are proud to support them through our Crazy Sock Week fundraising. 🧦💛
Thank you Camp Quality for such a special visit! 🌟

🌿🖤💛❤️ 50 YEARS OF DEADLY – WHAT A SPECIAL DAY! ❤️💛🖤🌿
Yesterday, our Preschool children jumped aboard a local Eggins bus and headed out to Saltwater National Park for a very special day on sacred Country.
We were honoured to have Uncle Rus begin our day with a beautiful Welcome to Country, before sharing his knowledge and teachings with the children about Country, culture and our First Nations people. 🌿
🎥 The video accompanying this post is a recording of the Welcome to Country Uncle Rus gave at the event. If you listen closely, you can hear our children in the background, happily enjoying the moment and engaging with his teachings a very special memory from our day. ❤️
We were also treated to some wonderful performances by the Chatham High dancers, who shared dance and culture with our children. 🖤💛❤️
A big thank you to Sam and Danielle from MidCoast Council Libraries, who joined us for some wonderful storytime. 📚
The children spent the day exploring the beautiful local area, visiting the lagoon, getting creative with craft and activities, and learning through connection to Country.
It was also wonderful to have so many of our families join us for the day. Having our children, families, community and special guests all together made the experience even more meaningful.
As we celebrate 50 Years of Deadly this year, this was a day filled with culture, connection, learning, laughter and community.
A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this beautiful experience possible for our Preschool children and families.

Free play outdoors -- where children are up close and personal with nature -- is so incredibly valuable.
How amazing it is to know that you can help your child's physical, mental and emotional health simply by letting them play outside!
