Recently our educators attended an Infant Safety Training with Kidsafe SA, strengthening our knowledge and confidence in keeping babies and young children safe.

It was a valuable opportunity to refresh our skills, learn practical safety strategies, and ensure we are prepared to respond confidently in an emergency.

Learning Together Through Music 🎵🎶

There is something truly special about coming together for group time! Through songs, music and signing, our children are building so much more than musical skills.

As we sing, move and use signs together, children are developing their language and communication skills, strengthening their listening and memory, building confidence and expressing themselves in meaningful ways. Music also creates opportunities to practise turn-taking, cooperation and a sense of belonging as everyone joins in together.

Signing alongside songs supports children’s understanding, encourages inclusion and gives children another way to communicate their ideas, feelings and needs. It helps every child feel seen, heard and valued.

Whether we’re clapping to a favourite rhyme, learning a new action song or sharing smiles through sign language, these joyful moments are helping to build strong relationships, confidence and a lifelong love of learning.

Our little learners transformed into beautiful butterflies as they explored the magic of dress-up and role play. Through imaginative play, children build confidence, develop communication skills, and let their creativity soar.

🍃🐛Little Explorers at Work! 🦋🔍

Following on of our story sharing of The Very Hungry Caterpillar 🐛. Our children became nature detectives during a fun exploration activity! Using real leaves they collected, toy insects, and magnifying glasses, they investigated the wonders of the natural world.

As they searched through the leaves, the children enjoyed discovering different insects- trying to find the very hungry caterpillar 🐛 , observing colours, patterns, and textures, and sharing their findings with friends. This hands-on experience encouraged curiosity, language development, fine motor skills, and an appreciation for nature.

Learning through play allows children to explore, ask questions, and make exciting discoveries every day. We loved seeing their excitement as they investigated their own little bug habitat!

Learning Through Play 🏖️💧

Our children embraced the joy of open-ended play as they explored the sandpit with water and a variety of loose parts.

By following their own ideas, making choices and directing their play, children used their agency and voice to create, problem-solve, collaborate and imagine. From building, making waterways to mixing muddy creations, every experience was led by their curiosity and creativity.

Loose parts play encourages children to think critically, experiment, negotiate with friends and adapt their ideas as their play evolves. Adding water transformed the environment, inviting children to explore concepts such as volume, texture, cause and effect, and teamwork in meaningful, hands-on ways.

As educators, we value these child-led experiences, knowing that when children are empowered to make decisions and express themselves through play, they build confidence, resilience, independence and a lifelong love of learning.

Sometimes the richest learning happens when children are simply given the time, space and freedom to explore. 💚

Fueling Little Learners Every Day 🥪🍎

At our Kindergarten and Rural Care, we know that happy, healthy children learn best. That’s why we’re so grateful to be supported with additional food and ingredients from Foodbank through our breakfast and lunch programs.

Children are always encouraged to enjoy the food they bring from home first, with our educators supporting healthy eating habits and positive relationships with food. When needed, we are also able to provide nutritious breakfast, lunch and snacks, ensuring every child has the energy they need to learn, play, grow and thrive throughout the day. 💚

Mealtimes are about so much more than eating. They provide valuable opportunities for children to develop important life skills through washing their hands, helping with food preparation, baking & cooking, serving, making healthy choices and packing up together. These everyday experiences build independence, confidence and an appreciation for healthy food and shared responsibility.

A heartfelt thank you to Foodbank for helping us create a nurturing environment where every child can enjoy healthy food and focus on what matters most—learning, friendships and having fun.

Together, we’re building healthy habits, lifelong skills and brighter futures—one meal at a time. 🌟

Our children had the opportunity to learn, listen and connect through stories and hands on activities 🦘

🦒 Harold’s Big Feelings with Life Ed 💛

Our children had a wonderful time welcoming the Life Ed Van and joining Healthy Harold for the engaging Harold’s Big Feelings program.

Through stories, songs, and interactive activities, the children explored a range of emotions and learned that all feelings are normal. They talked about recognising their emotions, expressing them in healthy ways, and developing simple strategies to help manage big feelings.

These valuable experiences support children’s social and emotional development, helping them build confidence, empathy, resilience, and positive relationships with others.

A big thank you to the Life Ed team and Healthy Harold for making learning about emotions so much fun. The children loved every moment! 🦒🌈💛
