Are you guilty of being a "fixer"? I certainly was (and sometimes still am!) I had found myself always rushing in to help my toddler, before she even asked for help.

I've been working hard to try and step back to allow her to tackle challenges independently. In the process, she has learnt to concentrate (a little better!) and is more resilient when faced with a challenge.

Always Was, Always Will Be.

It's NAIDOC week this week, and the 2020 theme "Always Was, Always Will Be" recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years.

It's so important that we embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in to Early Childhood Learning. Our little ones need to grow up hearing these stories to respect and champion the cultures that were the beginning of our nation.

I also recognise that I still have a lot to learn and by educating my kids I get opportunities to continue learning how to be a better ally.

Who here dreads entertaining toddlers in rainy weather? 🙋🏻‍♀️ The neverending rain in Sydney is reminding us of our colourful fish patterns page 🐠

Patterns help children learn to make logical connections. Recognising patterns is a basic building block for their numeracy skills. 👏🏼

Keep your eyes peeled for our exciting launch, so you can get your little one practising their patterns!

Can I spill a secret? I find rainy days TOUGH as a mum. Trying to get everyone fed, napping, entertained and happy is near impossible.

Reading lots of books is one of our favourite rainy day activities, but eventually we need something else.

Her Busy Book keeps my toddler occupied I can get things done or take a quick breather. We'd be lost without it on a rainy day!

I can't wait to share it with you when we launch in November!

Can I be honest with you? This week mum guilt hit me big time! Nothing I did was good enough:

1. Didn't manage to set up beautiful insta-worthy invitations to play for the kids. 🌈
2. Didn't get enough work done. 💻
3. Didn't exercise as much as I would like. 🏃🏻‍♀️..the list goes on. Cue major mum guilt. "Why does everyone else seem to have things more together than me?"

But here's the thing:
1. I still had lots of quality play time with the kids, many puzzles were accomplished inside due to the rain. 🧩
2. I ticked several smaller items off my list, freeing up heads headspace for big ticket items this coming week. 💪🏼
3. I have to cut myself some slack here, it's a bit difficult to go for walks in the rain, but I have some good indoor workouts to try this week. 🌧

Moral of the story: I'm trying to be kinder to myself, and you should too ❤

2020 has been quite a year! Trying to keep your kids engaged in quarantine, educated at home-school or entertained on weekends when nothing else is open, has been TOUGH!

We aim to make learning fun and fuss-free! What's your go-to fun activity for a rainy day? ☔

Here's a little sneak peek on what we've been working on for the past few days. 😍Can you guess what this is....?

If you're anything like us, your household is a happy wreck by the end of the weekend! 😂 Remnants of fun activities, half-eaten snacks and toys used in all sorts of imaginative play can be found everywhere! 💥

On Sunday evenings, while all I want to do is curl up on the couch with a movie and a block of chocolate, I try to pack everything away 🙄

10 mins to reset really prepares my family up for a happy week ahead. Do you have a similar Sunday evening task that you would prefer to avoid? 😉

We love our busy books SO much, we put together a series of posts to share the benefits of them with you 👇

Given everything that has happened in 2020 with and lockdowns and quarantine, this benefit HAD to be top of the list.

KEEP LITTLE ONES BUSY! Our busy books keep little hands busy with a safe and educational activity, giving mum or dad at least a few quiet minutes for things that need to get done (1. coffee ☕ )

Hands up who has needed some extra help getting a moment to themselves this year?! 🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️
