LINK: Widening Participation in English, The University of Sydney The LINK Project is a 'Widening Participation’ initiative in the Department of English at The University of Sydney, funded by the Nelson Meers Foundation.

Since 2012, the Department of English has been involved in a schools outreach program to ‘Widen Participation’ at The University of Sydney. Responding to the chronic underrepresentation of students from low socioeconomic backgrounds in higher education institutions across Australia, the Department’s ‘Widening Participation’ program seeks to improve opportunities for young people of diverse backgrounds to study at University. The LINK Project has established partnerships with a number of schools across NSW and is working with them to: emphasise the value of education and learning; encourage achievement at school and beyond; identify pathways for students to higher education; familiarise high school students with University life; and to promote an open and inclusive campus here at the University. From 2015 - 2017 the project is funded by the Nelson Meers Foundation.
