Throwback to last year’s session with the Year 4 ILC cohort, where I presented as part of their Producers project. We explored photosynthesis and the connection between plants and the soil microbiome. The highlight for the students? Observing the hidden world of compost through a microscope—it absolutely captivated them!

So exciting to see the Poppy seeds the kids sowed 2 weeks ago at immanuel_early_learning_ are germinating 😊
Some people are worried to mulch where they have just sowed seeds but it is just mimicking nature. In nature you would not normally find any bare soil. Having mulch protects the soil from rain compaction, loss of moisture due to evaporation, protects from excessive heat from sun exposure and it feeds the soil organisms.

Last week at Immanuel Early Learning Centre we prepped some pots and planters before the kids spread out Poppy seeds. Now is the perfect time for sowing these seeds to have flowering plants for Remembrance Day 😃
I just love how involved the kids are!
