π± Seedsaving π±
GreenFriends Sunshine Coast recently held a seed saving event which saw many new faces interested in learning all about seed saving and planting following the phases of the moon.
The day was theoretical and hands on, everyone making seed raising mix from scratch and planting seeds to take home.
On the land an extension to the Mother's Kitchen Garden has been developed and a nursery for seedlings and plants is underway.

πΏ Thankam's Garden πΏ
Winter garden with some winter fruit and the Hope of spring- a miniature subtropical nectarine π!
I have limited space and difficult climate for fruit but the species you can use are there if you seek advice. Also note - grow herbs at the base of trees in pots, mint and parsley for starters for me.
After Amma said to grow food, I am gradually replacing my grass.
Use stepping stones to walk on and plant the area in between with low herbs or other grown cover ( you will never have to mow again) but weeding is needed. This leaf below the lime is sweet potato. Nectarine with parsley ( an a splint for a damaged branch). Lemon with nasturtium and mint below passion fruit.

πΏ Mekala & Sri's Suburban Garden πΏ
Our yard surrounds our house on three sides and is a standard average suburban block in Brisbane.
I have the following fruit trees: paw paw, two varieties of Guava, Meyer lemons, Tahitian Lime, Lemonade tree, Nashi, Custard Apple, Longan, Cumquat, Drinking coconut, Mango, Pomegranate, Banana and Jackfruit. I keep them pruned to fit the size of our block.
Vegetables are planted around the fruit trees and include Malay Spinach creeper variety (self seeding and grow from clippings), Chillies, Egg plant, Okra and Parsley. I am also growing onions, spring onions, carrot, beetroot and Gotukola for their foliage from vegetable clippings.
We have Moringa (Murunga) tree which is priced for the nutritional value of the leaves as well as the drum stick fruits which are curried. We also have a curry leaf tree.
We have flowering perennial shrubs for flowers for Satsang. We have chosen plants that are drought hardy, and between them will provide flowers throughout the year.
We have a betel leaf creeper, the leaves of which are used in Hindu prayer rituals.
We compost our kitchen, garden waste and lawn clippings.
We are also helping green our neighbourhood by growing drought hardy plants in a neighbourhood strip.
