Thoroughly enjoyed working alongside these enthusiastic young environmentalists yesterday at Kin Kora State School.
We have a busy week ahead exploring what has been going down the Drains of 10 schools in the Gladstone region.

Schools across the region have signed up to the 12 month Litter Education and Awareness Program (LEAP) to learn the importance of litter reduction.
The program has installed litter catching 'drain buddies' into drains at ten schools to show kids how much waste could potentially enter our region's waterways.
The aim of LEAP is to increase awareness of environmental conservation while also increasing our ongoing litter monitoring activities.

Gladstone Regional Council's LEAP Program works collaboratively with the Cleanwater Group and Tangaroa Blue.
The Litter Education & Awareness Project (LEAP) has been developed in response to an alleged contravention of the Environment Protection Act 1994, relating to extraction of material above that of Council’s prescribed licensing, across some Council managed pits. Upon discovery, Gladstone Regional Council notified the Queensland Environment (DES). Following a formal investigation, an Enforceable Undertaking was entered by Council and the Department, through which the Council committed to undertake the LEAP project.
Congratulations to all the hard work that has been put in by the Tangaroa Blue team and partners to bring this great initiative to reality
Thanks again to channel 7 for shining a light on stormwater pollution and a massive thanks to the volunteers who got their hands dirty over the past three days.
