๐ Meeting 1009 โ The Ripple Effect ๐
What a fantastic night at Sunbury & Macedon Ranges Toastmasters!
Our Toastmaster Craig Bruty led the evening with his theme โThe Ripple Effectโ โ exploring how even a small conversation, action or decision can influence others and create an impact far beyond what we first realise.
We heard prepared speeches from Raj โ โLead in Any Situationโ and Cassy โ โNot On My Bingo Card,โ plus a special educational presentation from Dearne Rout, District 73 Administration Manager, titled โWhat Are You Here For?โ
Dearne gave members and guests a helpful introduction to Toastmasters Pathways โ the educational program members use to work through projects, build confidence, improve communication and public-speaking skills, and develop leadership along the way. It was especially useful for newer members and guests who are still discovering how Toastmasters works.
One of the highlights was welcoming so many new and returning guests. Several first- and second-time guests got up and had a go at Table Topics, and one returning guest even stepped into the role of Table Topics Evaluator #2 โ fantastic to see people getting involved so early in their Toastmasters journey.
At the end of the meeting, our guests shared how welcomed they felt, how much they enjoyed the evening and how much they had learnt โ a pretty perfect example of Craigโs Ripple Effect in action. ๐โจ
Next up: Tuesday 18 August โ and this meeting will be run a little differently. ๐

We are very excited to welcome Pam Ahern OAM, founder of Edgarโs Mission, as our guest speaker.
Pam is a past member of Sunbury & Macedon Ranges Toastmasters, and her public speaking journey began right here at our club. This year, Pam was also awarded an OAM, which was such exciting and well-deserved recognition for her incredible work.
It will be very special to welcome Pam back and hear some of her story.
Toastmasters is a friendly and supportive place to build confidence, practise public speaking, develop communication and leadership skills, and meet encouraging people.
Guests are always welcome. You are very welcome to come along, watch, listen, meet our members and see what Toastmasters is all about. There is no pressure to speak unless you would like to have a go.
We have had some wonderful new guests and new members recently, and we would love to welcome more people from the Sunbury and Macedon Ranges community.

๐ WE ARE A DISTINGUISHED CLUB! ๐
We're beyond proud to share that Sunbury & Macedon Ranges Toastmasters has officially achieved Distinguished Club status for 2025โ2026! ๐
What does that actually mean? Our little club of 12 members hit 5 Distinguished Club Program goals this year, across education, membership, leadership and club strength. It's one of the highest honours a Toastmasters club can earn. ๐
๐ Education โ members completing Pathways projects
๐ฑ Membership โ growing and welcoming new faces
๐ Leadership โ members stepping up into roles
๐ช Club Strength โ running a healthy, active club
Small club. Big heart. Wonderful achievement. โจ
We're celebrating alongside our wider Toastmasters family too โ District 73 (Victoria, Tasmania & South Australia) saw 53 clubs reach Distinguished status this year. Huge thanks to outgoing District Director Janine Wan, DTM, and the whole District 73 team for a year of guidance and support. ๐
But honestly? The certificate isn't even the best part. The best part is watching new members like Shahbaz deliver his very first Ice Breaker speech with courage and heart. It's guests trying Table Topics for the first time. It's four guests, first-timers and regulars alike, telling us this week they want to become members. That's what Distinguished really looks like in this club. ๐ฅน
Come see it for yourself โ next meeting:

Guests always welcome, no pressure to speak. ๐
