๐ŸŒฟโœจ Celebrating NAIDOC Week โœจ๐ŸŒฟ

Last week, the children took part in a range of meaningful experiences to celebrate NAIDOC Week and learn about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, and traditions.

The children explored the colours of the Aboriginal flag through creative art experiences, making their own flags, boomerangs, and colourful serpent artworks using paper, patterns, and different textures. These activities encouraged creativity, fine motor development, and an appreciation of cultural symbols.

Working together, the children created a beautiful collaborative Aboriginal flag using red, black, and yellow paint handprints. They enjoyed sharing ideas, taking turns, and seeing their individual contributions come together as one meaningful artwork representing connection and unity.

During group time, the children also explored Aboriginal music by playing instruments, listening to rhythms, and moving along to the sounds. This supported confidence, creativity, and an appreciation of different cultural expressions.

We loved seeing the childrenโ€™s curiosity, respect, and enthusiasm as they celebrated NAIDOC Week through art, music, and shared experiences. ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ–คโค๏ธ

๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ๐ŸŒฟ Celebrating International Yoga Day ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™‚๏ธ

Sunday the 21st of June was International Yoga Day, so today our educators and children came together to celebrate the many benefits of yoga through a series of fun and engaging yoga challenges.

The children enthusiastically explored different yoga poses, stretched their bodies, practised balance, and learned simple breathing techniques. Along the way, we discussed how yoga helps us stay healthy, calm our minds, improve concentration, and support our overall wellbeing.

It was wonderful to see the children building confidence, coordination, and mindfulness while having lots of fun with their friends. Experiences like these encourage children to develop healthy habits and an awareness of the importance of caring for both their bodies and minds.

Today we celebrated Global Wind Day, which we partake in annually to promote wind energy as a clean and sustainable power source.

The 2026 theme is โ€œOur Wind, Our Communityโ€.
The children participated in a variety of exciting wind-themed activities throughout the day.

๐Ÿช Kite Making and Flying
Negin and the children worked together to create and decorate their own kites using a range of craft materials. Once their kites were complete, they eagerly headed outside to test them out. The children showed great enthusiasm as they ran across the yard, watching their kites soar through the air.

๐ŸŽˆ Balloon Rocket Experiment
Just before lunch, Mona set up a balloon rocket activity. The children were fascinated as they observed how air can create movement and propel a balloon along a string. Many children took turns participating and predicting how fast their balloon rockets would travel.

๐ŸŽถ Blowing in the Wind
To finish our celebration, we enjoyed singing and dancing to one of our favourite songs, โ€œBlowing in the Wind.โ€ Using colourful scarves, the children moved their bodies to the music, pretending to be the wind as they twirled, danced, and waved their scarves through the air.

It was a fun-filled day of learning, creativity, movement, and exploration as we discovered the power of wind together!
