From Port Macquarie, the drive out to New England National Park is always special. You leave the coast behind and wind your way through rolling hills and farmland, before climbing into the cool, misty rainforest of the high country. It already feels like you’re stepping into another world.
After reaching New England National Park, we set off on a hike through dense, fern-filled gullies and mossy tracks, the sound of running water guiding us deeper into the forest. Each turn revealed something new—towering trees, hidden streams, and cascades spilling gently over the rocks.
But this was the moment that tested me most. Getting down to the base of this waterfall wasn’t easy—steep, slippery, and the kind of scramble that demanded focus. Not a place you’d ever stumble across by chance. Yet, when I finally reached the bottom, the view was pure reward.
The falls poured gracefully into a still, emerald pool, framed by rainforest and alive with the sounds of nature. It was the kind of scene that makes every step, every challenge, and every scratch along the way completely worth it. A reminder of why these journeys matter—the harder the path, the greater the reward.
