We get taught very little about our bodies, s*x, contraception or even how to get pregnant (when the time is right) while growing up.

Your period arrived. Right on time, like it does every month...so you must be ovulating right? 🤷🏼‍♀️

Not always...

A regular bleed is a good sign. But it doesn't tell you if ovulation actually occurred. A menstrual cycle where ovulation doesn’t occur is called "anovulation". And it's more common than people think.

And this matters if you're trying to conceive because **ovulation is the main event, and you need to release an egg in order for the egg to be able to meet s***m and fertilise.** ✨️

So having a period every month doesn't automatically tell you that an egg was released.

This is why tracking your cycle can be about so much more than simply entering the first day of your period into an app. 📲

There can be so many clues along the way that can give you more information. Things like:
•cervical mucus and LH testing, can indicate your fertile window and that you're approaching ovulation
•using along side basal body temperature monitoring can help confirm ovulation and close your fertile window
•a progesterone blood test and ultrasound can also be helpful to confirm ovulation has taken place.

If you're having regular periods but struggling to conceive, it can be worth asking:

"Do we know that I'm actually ovulating?"

Not because you should panic, but because understanding what's happening in your body is empowering and a great first step to knowing what support you may need.

💾 Save this to come back to if it's something you've wondered.

📩 Or send it to someone who could benefit from knowing this information.

And if you're thinking "Okay... but how do I actually know if I'm ovulating?" Or "how do I track my cycle?"

That's exactly the kind of question you can bring to me and we can work through together 🌈

We hear about the female biological clock all the time ⏰️...But here's something that's talked about far less:

**Men have a biological clock too.**

While men continue to produce s***m throughout their lives, s***m quality doesn't stay exactly the same with age.

As men get older, research has shown there can be gradual changes in:
• S***m motility (how well they swim)
• S***m morphology (how they look)
• S***m DNA fragmentation
• Testosterone levels

Advanced paternal age has also been associated with a longer time to conceive and an increased risk of certain pregnancy and health outcomes in children.

Does this mean every older man will have fertility problems?

Absolutely not.

Just like female fertility, male fertility is influenced by many factors—including overall health, lifestyle, medical conditions and genetics.

But it does mean one thing...

Fertility has always been a conversation that includes 2 people ✨️

If you're planning to start a family, don't put all the pressure on one partner. Looking after s***m health is just as important as looking after egg health.

💾 Save this post or share it with your partner, to show them that fertility isn't "just a women's issue"

Or DM me 📩 "LIFESTYLE" to download my lifestyle factors ebook for him and her!
