Everyone told developers to learn to code. Then AI learned to code...

So we’re launching the AI Development Accelerator. Here’s why 🤔

Three teams. One packed room. A pretty good night. 🔥

Last Thursday, Cohort 28 shared what they’d been building at Demo Day at Canva Melbourne.

A few moments from a night worth looking back on. 📸

One of our favourite moments from the My Little Bookworm presentation wasn’t a feature or a demo.

It was hearing the team reflect on everything they learned while building together. Those moments of figuring things out, supporting each other, and growing as engineers are what Demo Day is really about.

The full My Little Bookworm Demo Day presentation is now up on YouTube if you’d like to watch it.

And if you’d like to experience that for yourself, Cohort 28’s Demo Day is happening tomorrow. 👀

Everyone sees the presentations. Not everyone sees what it takes to get there.

Before Demo Day, there’s plenty of brainstorming, rehearsing, feedback and a few last-minute tweaks.

That’s what these photos are about.

A behind-the-scenes look at Cohort 28 putting the final touches on their projects before they take the stage.

See you on 16 July. 👋

The countdown is officially on. 👀

We’re heading back to one of our favourite spots, Canva Melbourne, for Cohort 28’s Demo Day.

After eight weeks of learning, building and problem-solving, Cohort 28 is almost ready to share what they’ve been working on.

AI can give you an answer in seconds.

Knowing when to question it is a different skill altogether.

Knowing how to challenge, test, and validate AI is just as important as knowing how to use it, especially when accuracy matters in every scenario, not just the happy path.

It’s easy to overlook that when all the focus is on what AI can do.

A classroom is great. Learning from people in the industry? Even better. 👏

This week, our students visited Eightcap HQ for a session on Agentic AI, modern software development, and where the future of engineering is heading.

Big thanks to the Eightcap team for sharing their insights and giving our students a behind-the-scenes look at how software is being built today. We can’t wait for the next one! 🚀

Not everyone starts their tech career in tech.

Before becoming a Frontend Developer at RACV, Cienna Nguyen worked as a registered nurse across multiple hospital specialties.

When she decided to make the switch, she wasn’t bringing years of coding experience with her. What she did bring was the experience she’d gained from working with people, solving problems under pressure, and learning in a demanding environment.

Today, she’s helping build digital experiences used by hundreds of thousands of Australians.

One thing Cienna wants career changers to remember:

“There’s going to be so many soft skills that will be your strong point when you transfer.”

What skills from your current career would you bring into tech?

One of the best takeaways from the HotDog presentation was how much the team valued communication and learning from each other throughout the build.

That’s something we really encourage at Holberton too. Technical skills matter, but being able to collaborate, explain ideas clearly, and work through challenges as a team is just as important in the real world.

The full HotDog Demo Day presentation is now up on YouTube if you wanna check out their journey. 👏
