QMuSo and UQMuS are head to head again this year for our annual Trivia Night at Grill’d Southbank!

Which club will prevail and win the Golden Recorder ✨?

When: Saturday 26th September 6-10pm
Where: Southbank Grill’d

Tickets are on rubric, it will prompt you to pick a team! 6 teammates per group. They’re free on rubric but will be $25 for your tickets at Grill’d which gets you a burger, chips and an alcohol free drink of choice.

Producer call-out!!

QMuSo Blackbirds are recording a jazz album and we need help!

We need a mastering engineer preferably with experience in instrumental/jazz band music (but not required).

We also need an assistant producer to help with set up/pack down, overall workflow of the session and any other general assistance!

These are volunteer positions, perfect for uni students wanting the experience!

Big day for Blackbirds!

On August 15th we step foot on stage at the 2026 Engineering Ball at the Warehouse, Fortitude Valley. We’ll be performing tunes from 7pm-7:30pm. All Blackbirds members ensure you’re in formal concert black attire.

Open Rehearsals are back for Semester 2!!

Newcomers welcome! No experience needed, just bring your instrument!

Where: Paddington Hall (10 Moreton St, Paddington)
When: the 19th AND 26th of July
What to bring: your instrument, a water bottle, a pencil and yourself! No need to worry about supplying sheet music- that’s our job

19th July:

String Theory: 12pm-2pm
Concert Band: 2:15pm-5pm
Blackbirds Big Band: 5:15pm-7:30pm

26th July:

String Theory: 12pm-2pm
Orchestra: 2:15pm-3:45pm
Concert Band: 4pm-5pm
Blackbirds Big Band: 5:15pm-7:30pm

WARNING for the 19th of July there will be a game on at Suncorp Stadium. Parking near Paddington hall will be VERY limited. We strongly advise members to use public transport if able!

From 2nd of August all rehearsals move back to Z9-540 at Kelvin Grove Campus!

We can’t wait to see some new members and welcome back our returning ones!
