"Where Hope Ignites Innovation" ☄️

Last week, our team went to the 2026 Prader-Willi Research and Family Conference in Brisbane/Magandjin.

📒 Our Consultant Psychiatrist, Dr Melanie Johnston, spoke about a mental health assessment tool our team is co-developing.

🎤 Our Clinical Director, Dr Cathy Franklin, presented on a panel with Professor Tony Holland who visited from the University of Cambridge. Cathy spoke about the impact of co-design in research.

🧬 We also saw lots of research and clinical innovations to help improve the lives of people with Prader-Willi Syndrome. Some of our favourite topics were on organoid development and gene editing.

Thank you Prader-Willi Research Foundation Australia for having us. It was great to meet people from many different backgrounds working for the same cause.

The Census is coming soon!

The Australian Census is a count of everyone living in Australia.
It happens every 5 years and is run by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).
The next Census is on Tuesday 11 August.

The Census asks questions like:
• how many people live in your home
• what languages people speak
• if people work or study

This information helps governments and organisations plan things like schools, hospitals and roads.

The ABS has also made an Easy Read guide to help everyone understand what the Census is and what you need to do.
