❤️ Why Restart a Heart Day?

Because when someone’s heart suddenly stops, the first person who can help is often not a paramedic.

It’s a partner. A friend. A workmate. A neighbour. A stranger.

Restart a Heart Day is about giving more people the confidence to act in those first critical moments:

CALL. PUSH. SHOCK.

On 16 October, we’re aiming to make up to 160 CPR places available in Smithton in one day.

The more people in our community who know what to do, the stronger that community becomes.

Share this post — or tag someone you think should know CPR. ❤️

❤️ RESTART A HEART DAY IS COMING TO SMITHTON

On Friday, 16 October 2026, Far Edge Studio is partnering with Rural Health Tasmania to bring to Smithton.

And we're setting ourselves a pretty ambitious goal:

Up to 160 CPR places. One day. One community.

Throughout the day, Far Edge Studio will deliver hourly sessions for HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation, with sessions running between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm at Rural Health Tasmania on King Street, Smithton.

Each session will be limited to 20 participants.

For Restart a Heart Day only, the participant fee will be just $20 per person, delivered as a community-focused, cost-recovery initiative.

BOOKINGS OPEN SOON

Bookings will be essential.

Participants must register for a specific session and complete the required pre-course online learning before attending their practical training and assessment on the day. Unfortunately, this means we won't be able to accommodate walk-ins.

We'll announce here as soon as registrations open.

For now, save the date:
📅 Friday, 16 October 2026
📍 Rural Health Tasmania, King Street, Smithton
🕘 Hourly sessions | 9:00 am–5:00 pm
👥 Maximum 20 participants per session
❤️ Up to 160 community CPR places

Restart a Heart Day is about one simple idea: more people knowing what to do when someone's heart suddenly stops.

CALL. PUSH. SHOCK.

Could we get 160 people through CPR training in Smithton in one day?

We're going to give it a pretty good crack.

160 people. One day. One community.

Bookings opening soon. ❤️

A good debrief is not about blame.

It is about learning.

Whether after training, an exercise, or a real incident, debriefing helps teams make sense of what happened and turn experience into improvement.

This blog explores what makes a debrief useful, practical, and worth the time.

Recently, Far Edge Studio had the privilege of delivering a private Remote Advanced First Aid course in Stanley, Tasmania for a group of dedicated rural healthcare professionals.

Throughout the day, participants developed and practised skills in remote casualty management, teamwork, communication and dynamic decision-making before putting everything together during a realistic beach-based emergency scenario at Tatlows Beach.

We believe the most valuable learning happens when people can safely apply their knowledge under realistic conditions. Scenario-based training helps build confidence, improve teamwork and encourage sound decision-making when it matters most.

A sincere thank you to everyone who participated with such enthusiasm and professionalism. It was a fantastic day of learning, collaboration and practical skill development.

If your organisation is looking for private first aid training, remote first aid courses or workplace emergency response training anywhere across North-West Tasmania, we'd love to work with you.

In an emergency, the most valuable tool might not be the first aid kit, radio, checklist, or defibrillator.

It might be situational awareness.

Seeing what is happening. Understanding what it means. Anticipating what could happen next.

This blog explores why awareness sits at the heart of good emergency response and human performance.

Comfort zones are comfortable for a reason.

But capability rarely grows there.

This blog looks at why meaningful learning happens when people are challenged safely, given room to practise, and supported to reflect.

No chaos. No theatrics. Just purposeful stretch.

First aid training should be more than a certificate in a folder.

The real goal is capability — helping people recognise a problem, act early, communicate clearly, and feel confident when something goes wrong.

In this blog, we unpack why practical, realistic first aid training matters.

Why does Far Edge Studio exist?

Because the best work often happens at the edge — the edge of the map, the edge of comfort, and the edge of capability.

This first blog shares the story behind Far Edge Studio, my background, and why this business brings together training, emergency management, human performance, facilitation, and visual storytelling.

Big milestone for Far Edge Studio — we’ve officially been granted our ReOC.

In plain English: we can now operate as a certified drone service provider, with approved systems for safe, compliant commercial drone operations.

For clients, that means aerial imagery, site capture, mapping support and operational visuals delivered with the paperwork, planning and risk controls to match.
