So we’ve had to make a few changes around here…

When the donkeys’ hay gets too expensive, we just feed them humans instead.

Much more economical.
One human feeds approximately 27 donkeys.

LSDP FIRST ANNUAL DONKEY SALE

Saturday 3 October 2026
Hunter Valley, NSW

It’s finally official.

After a huge amount of planning, we are very excited to announce the LSDP First Annual Donkey Sale.

We’re expecting approximately 15–20 donkeys to form our main sale group, with a really varied selection across different ages, colours, personalities and stages of education.

Some will be suited to life as pets and companions, some to livestock guardian homes, and others may have potential for further education.

But one thing won’t change just because we’re calling it a sale.

This will NOT be first person with the money wins.

Matching the right donkeys with the right people will remain exactly as important to us as it has always been.

THE PRIVATE LSDP SALES GROUP

We’re about to have a LOT of donkey information coming your way.

Rather than completely taking over our main LSDP page with individual listings, photos, videos, training updates, questions and commentary, we’ve created a separate private LSDP Sales Group.

Think of it as sale headquarters.

Every donkey included in the sale will have their own profile published there, along with additional photos and videos, handling and training updates, purchasing information, transport updates and everything else relating to the sale.

Details on joining the group will be provided shortly.

AND THERE’S SOMETHING IMPORTANT TO KNOW…

The 15–20 donkeys advertised as part of the sale are only a selection of the donkeys we have available. As LSDP currently has over 100 donkeys.

So if you’re looking through the sale group thinking, ā€œThat’s not quite what I’m after,ā€ please talk to us.

Tell us what you ARE looking for.

Jenny or gelding. Younger or older. Pet, companion or livestock guardian. Particular temperament, handling level or anything else that matters to you.

There may be a donkey — or pair of donkeys — standing in one of our paddocks right now that would suit you far better than anything advertised in the actual sale.

DO I HAVE TO COME TO THE HUNTER VALLEY?

Absolutely not.

We welcome enquiries from anywhere.

For buyers who can’t come and meet their donkeys personally, we are happy to provide additional photos, videos, FaceTime calls and answer as many questions as you need.

We want you to be able to see the donkey properly, watch them being handled and have as much information as possible before making a decision.

For those who CAN come and meet the donkeys, we absolutely encourage it.

Visits and Meet & Greets will be strictly by appointment only after you have been qualified as a buyer.

This will not be an open-property day and there will be no general public access.

PURCHASING BEFORE 3 OCTOBER

When we originally asked for feedback about the sale, one thing came through very clearly.

A lot of you wanted the opportunity to secure your donkeys BEFORE sale day.

We listened.

Where appropriate, selected donkeys may be available prior to 3 October through a best written offer process, with a price guide provided.

Each donkey’s listing will clearly explain what applies to them.

TRANSPORT

Interstate and long-distance buyers are very welcome.

Once we know where donkeys need to go, we’ll also look at coordinating group transport where possible so donkeys travelling in the same direction may be able to share transport costs.

AND THEN THERE’S THE IMPORTANT BIT…

Our usual LSDP requirements still apply.

Suitable facilities matter.

Donkey companionship matters.

Experience and the intended role of the donkey matter.

And the individual donkey matters.

Being part of a sale doesn’t change our responsibility to make sure they end up in suitable homes.

If you’re new to donkeys, don’t let that automatically put you off either.

Education and ongoing support are a huge part of what we do.

Buyers will have access to our ā€œGet to Know Your Donkeyā€ information covering settling in, handling, feeding, fencing, shelter, facilities, hoof care and ongoing management.

And our support doesn’t finish when your donkeys get on the truck.

SO… WHAT HAPPENS NOW?

This is the link for our private LSDP Sales Group 2026. https://www.facebook.com/groups/28783463741261423/
That’s where the fun really starts.

If you already know exactly what you’re looking for, you’re also welcome to get in touch now.

KIMMY – YOUNG JENNY AVAILABLE as part of our annual s. Ale catalogue.
Location: Singleton, NSW
Age: 2 years 8 months
Height: 12 hands
S*x: Jenny

Vet, dental, farrier, worming, microchip and vaccinations all up to date.

ABOUT KIMMY

Kimmy was born at LSDP and has been heavily handled from a young age… which unfortunately also means she has had plenty of time to develop her special skill set.

She is a tall, beautifully put-together young jenny with excellent conformation, a lovely foundation, and a highly questionable relationship with ā€œother people’s belongings.ā€

Kimmy is easy to catch, lead and tie… mostly because she is usually already halfway into your pocket, your feed bin, or your grooming kit.

She is good to trim, respectful to handle, and has had consistent education throughout her life. However, we do recommend keeping all tools, snacks, jackets, wheelbarrows, and possibly your dignity out of reach.

She is an intelligent young donkey who understands personal space… she just prefers to ignore it if there is anything remotely interesting on the other side of it.

At 12 hands and not yet three years old, Kimmy is a particularly tall young jenny and still has plenty of maturing to do. We are fairly confident this includes maturing out of her current ā€œif I can steal it, it belongs to meā€ philosophy.

THE HOME WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Kimmy is looking for a knowledgeable, committed home with a sense of humour, strong fencing, and secure storage solutions.

She will continue her education, ideally including lessons in ā€œnot everything is hersā€ and ā€œno, you cannot help yourself to that.ā€

As with all our donkeys, the right home is far more important than the first person with the money.

She will not be sold as a single donkey unless there is already a suitable donkey companion in the home (preferably one who is not easily robbed). She has a very tight bond with Briar. Offers in writing will be accepted before auction if to approved home.

Genuine enquiries are welcome.

Briar Expression of Interest cause we can’t say anything else. She will be included in our s ale

Name: Briar
Age: 1 year 11mths

Dental: Up to date
Hoof care: Regular trimming
Worming: Up to date
Vaccinations: Up to date
Microchipped: Yes
Location: SINGLETON NSW
Height: 12hh

Briar is a tall, beautifully grown young jenny with a really bright future ahead of her. She’s well handled, easy to catch, good to lead and trim, and just generally a nice, easy young donkey to have around. She’s intelligent, willing, and not pushy — she already has a solid foundation and understands personal space well.

Her education has been started here with us, and she’s now at that perfect stage where she’s ready for someone to take over and continue bringing her along as she matures. There’s no rush with her at all — she’s still very young and has plenty of growing and developing to do.

Briar is also currently bonded with Kimmy (a slightly older, taller jenny), and we are open to them going together if the right home comes along. Alternatively, she can be sold separately if there is already another Jenny on the property.

With her height, build, and temperament, Briar has real potential to develop into a lovely riding donkey once she is fully mature and physically ready.

She’s best suited to someone who wants more than just a paddock companion — someone who enjoys bringing on a young donkey and seeing what they can become with time and correct handling.

As always, the right home is far more important to us than a quick sale.

Serious enquiries welcome.

CONTENT CREATOR WANTED – HUNTER VALLEY

I’m looking for someone creative, reliable and preferably a little bit unhinged in the best possible way to help create content for a busy rural-based business.

This isn’t a sit-behind-a-desk-and-make-Canva-posts type of role.

I need someone who can come out, capture what is actually happening, find the story in it and turn it into bloody good content.

Think:

• Filming and photography
• Reels / short-form videos
• TikTok / Instagram / Facebook content
• Potential longer-form YouTube content
• Editing footage into finished, usable content
• Helping come up with ideas rather than waiting for me to tell you exactly what to film
• Capturing the funny, educational, chaotic and behind-the-scenes stuff that happens naturally
• Someone who understands that sometimes the best content is the thing nobody planned

This would ideally become an ongoing role rather than a once-off job.

You absolutely do NOT need to be an expert in donkeys or agriculture. I can teach you that side. I’m much more interested in someone who has a great eye, understands social media, can tell a story and knows how to make people stop scrolling.

Bonus points if you’re comfortable getting dirty, can think on your feet and don’t require everything to be staged within an inch of its life.

I also have two other local business owners who are seriously looking for content creation help, so there is potentially quite a bit of ongoing work available for the right person.

If this sounds like you, please send me a message with:

• A little bit about yourself
• Where you’re located
• Examples of content you’ve created
• What you offer — filming/editing/social media management etc.
• Your availability
• Your pricing or packages

Happy to talk to someone established OR someone bloody talented who is building their portfolio.

Location: Hunter Valley NSW

Please feel free to tag anyone you think might be perfect for this.

ANNUAL SALE ENTRANT MEET PERCY

Broken-Coloured Gelded Jack

DOB: 31/12/2025

Routine Vet Work: Up to Date
Vaccinations: Up to Date
Dental: Completed
Hooves: Trimmed
Worming: Up to Date
Recent Health Check: Passed with Flying Colours

Easy to catch lead tie up trim.
If you’re looking for personality plus, Percy might just be your bloke.

This handsome broken-coloured young gelding is one of those donkeys that keeps you smiling. Curious, cheeky, confident and always looking to see what’s happening next, Percy is full of character without ever forgetting to be a gentleman.

Like any young boy, he loves a good game, and his absolute best mate is Ezra. Despite Ezra being a little younger, that certainly doesn’t slow Percy down! The two spend their days playing, chasing each other around and generally causing harmless mischief. Watching them together is guaranteed entertainment.

If you already have donkeys at home, let’s have a chat. Matching personalities is one of the most important parts of what we do, and we’ll help work out whether Percy would be the right fit for your herd.

If you’re starting from scratch and looking for a ready-made friendship, Ezra will also be available. They already know each other, play beautifully together and would make an incredible pair.

Percy’s mum, Apollo, was one of our wild-caught Australian Teamster donkeys. Her previous foals have gone on to become exceptional companions, much-loved family members and wonderful ambassadors for the breed. Percy is proudly following in their footsteps.

At LSDP, we don’t just match you with a donkey—we match you with the right donkey. Every placement is backed by ongoing support because we want both you and your donkey to thrive together for decades to come.

If Percy sounds like he could be your next best mate, we’d love to hear from you. Send us a message and let’s have a chat about whether he’s the perfect fit for your family, property and lifestyle.

šŸ’•šŸ«šŸ„³LSDP Annual ā›µļø – Lot šŸ„³šŸ«šŸ’•

Meet Melba & Pearl

Reason for Sale: Carefully selected to feature in the upcoming LSDP Annual ā›µļø.

Melba
Date of Birth: 7 December 2022

Pearl
Date of Birth: 11 July 2026

Quick Facts

• Routine veterinary care: Up to date
• Dental care: Up to date
• Hooves trimmed by our farrier: Up to date
• Melba’s annual 2-in-1 vaccination: Up to date
• Pearl has received a post-birth veterinary health check
• ā›µļø as a mare and foal package

One of the many things we’ve learnt over the years is that every donkey has its own unique personality, and Melba is one of those very special jennies that quietly steals your heart.

If we had to describe her in just a few words, they would be gentle, kind and incredibly soft natured.

Melba is quite possibly one of the softest, kindest jennies in our herd. She has absolutely no interest in confrontation. If another donkey challenges her, she simply walks away. There isn’t a nasty bone in her body. She is beautifully even-tempered, calm and predictable, making her an absolute pleasure to have around.

On 11 July 2026, Melba welcomed her very first foal, a beautiful little jenny we’ve named Pearl. Watching these two together has been an absolute pleasure. Pearl already appears to have inherited her mum’s gentle temperament and is developing into a lovely, confident little jenny with a personality to match.

Pearl has already begun her early education and absolutely loves people. As soon as she sees us enter the paddock, she’ll often leave Mum and wander straight over looking for scratches and attention.

We’ve been gently introducing her to being handled all over, picking up her feet, and experiencing everyday interactions at her own pace. She is curious, relaxed and thoroughly enjoys human company, giving her an excellent foundation for her future education.

Melba’s Current Handling

• Happy to be approached and handled in the paddock.
• Comfortable being brushed and checked over.
• Quiet and relaxed around people.
• Happy for routine husbandry to be carried out.
• Has not yet commenced formal handling such as leading, tying up or floating.

The reason for this is simply that we’ve always been able to complete her routine care using our yards and crush, so there has never been a need to formally educate her. This allows her future owner to continue her education in a way that best suits their own goals.

As many of you requested through our recent community survey, selected sale lots will now be offered by Expression of Interest prior to the auction. If more than one party expresses serious interest in the same donkey, interested buyers will be invited to submit their highest offer before auction day. This process was introduced directly in response to your feedback and gives buyers the opportunity to secure the donkeys they’ve been waiting for.

If you think Melba and Pearl could be the right fit for your family, we’d love to hear from you. We’re more than happy to discuss their personalities, current level of handling, future education, and answer any questions you may have so you can make an informed decision.

At LSDP, our goal has never been to simply find our donkeys a new home. Our goal is to find them the right home. We will be providing more details this is just a glimpse of the lots offered! We also have LOTS of video footage we are happy to share! Just ask.

01/08/2026

A question we’re asked all the time is…

ā€œAre all donkeys the same?ā€

Not even close.

This video is one of my favourites because it perfectly demonstrates how much early life experiences shape a donkey.

Watch closely.

The Northern Territory donkeys don’t even consider walking through the water. They line themselves up and jump it without a second thought.

The Queensland donkeys, on the other hand, simply wander straight through as if it’s just another puddle.

Then there’s Gus…

Gus was heavily pregnant and originally from the Northern Territory. Jumping wasn’t exactly an option, so she very sensibly took the easy route and walked through instead.

Nothing about this was taught. It wasn’t planned. It wasn’t because one group is smarter than the other.

It’s simply what they’d learned growing up in very different environments.

It’s a great reminder that every donkey arrives with its own story, its own experiences and its own way of looking at the world. That’s why, at LSDP, we never assume one donkey will behave the same as the next.

For those who have been following us for years, you may remember this video from 2022.

For everyone who’s joined us since then… enjoy one of the classic demonstrations of just how fascinating donkeys really are.

Watch carefully… once you see it, you can’t unsee it.

šŸ„•šŸ’•āœŒļøEXPRESSION OF INTEREST FORM ATTACHEDāœŒļøšŸ’•šŸ„•

The next chapter for LSDP is about to begin. It’s very exciting and you could be a part in it! We are also open to other like minded condors that would like to offer their donkeys. We will also be offering transport services to buyers in SA VIC NSW QLD & TAS

Over the coming weeks, we will be releasing a number of carefully selected donkeys that are now ready for new beginnings . These aren’t quick transactions or rushed decisions—they are donkeys we’ve spent years getting to know, and matching them with the right owners and purpose will always remain our priority.

We’re excited to introduce the first of our upcoming ā›µļø lots…

Niah and her beautiful 7-day-old jack foal, Rio.

As a first-time mum, Niah has done an incredible job, and Rio has already stolen plenty of hearts. Watching these two together over the past week has been something special.

If you’ve been thinking about adding donkeys to your property, breeding program or family, now is the perfect time to register your interest.

Our donkeys are often reserved quickly, so if you’d like to hear about upcoming sale lots before they’re publicly listed, we’d encourage you to complete our Expression of Interest form.

By registering your interest, you’ll receive early notification of suitable donkeys as they become available, giving you the opportunity to find the right match before public listings are released.

Niah and Rio are just the beginning. We look forward to introducing many more wonderful donkeys over the coming weeks.
