Today our Environmental Leaders have been busy helping bring our new pollinator garden, Durnam Thurgoon, to life!

With support from Kylie, Environmental Officer from , students planted a range of indigenous flowering plants that will provide an important habitat for local pollinators.

Named in Yorta Yorta language, Durnam Thurgoon reflects the garden's purpose, with Durnam meaning "plants" and Thurgoon meaning "the earth". This exciting project is being led by our Environmental Leaders, with support from the Ngarri Ngarri team, and reflects our commitment to sustainability, cultural learning and caring for Country.

We can't wait to watch the garden grow and flourish!

Last week, our Year 12 Personal Development Skills students proudly hosted Australia's Biggest Morning Tea in support of the Cancer Council. ⭐☕🍰

The event brought staff together for a great cause, raising funds to support the 1 in 2 Australians affected by cancer.

A huge congratulations to our Year 12 PDS students for their hard work and organisation, and thank you to everyone who attended or donated to support this important cause.

If you'd still like to help the class reach their fundraising goal, donations are still welcome via the link below. Together, we can help Cancer Council raise much needed funds that go towards vital cancer research, support services, prevention programs, and advocacy.

We’re thrilled to see GSSC graduate Jay Bryce become a published author this week with the launch of “Proud to Serve”, tracing the history of GV Health from 1876 to present day.

The book launch was attended by senior health leaders, community leaders and hosted by the Historical Society of Mooroopna. Jay, from the Class of ’21, is a former Shepparton News journalist and member of the GV Health communications team.

He is now pursuing a teaching degree in Sydney, so who knows – maybe we’ll see him back at GSSC one day! 👏

From the classroom to the workshop 🔧🚗

Former GSSC student Denis turned a lifelong passion for cars into a career through a School-Based Apprenticeship and Traineeship (SBAT). While at school, Denis balanced his school studies with hands-on industry experience, paid employment and training, giving him a head start in the automotive industry.

Now a full-time apprentice at Ken Muston Automotive, Denis is proof that SBATs can open doors to exciting career opportunities while students are still at school.

At GSSC, students have access to more training, career and study pathways than ever before. Through SBATs, students can gain real-world workplace experience, earn nationally recognised qualifications and develop valuable industry skills while completing their secondary education.

We're proud to see students like Denis finding the right pathway for their future and turning their passions into careers.
