It is an exciting time for our Sarina community. Since the mining boom hit us a few years ago there has been a desire quietly growing in our midst to return to the simple things in life. Simple living, simple food and simple human connection. Interest in permaculture, volunteering and the pursuit of locally produced food has markedly increased in the last two years. he right time last year to speak stirringly to us about food health and its connection to our health. He advised that the Sarina Rural Skills Center provided the perfect situation for our community to create an awesome future in sustainable local food production and education. So began a wonderful journey where our small group of volunteers has been working with the school to establish the basis of a community garden. We now have the food forest and “veggie patch” well underway with a lot of help coming from the students at the center. We’d love to have new volunteers at anytime and children are welcome as well.
