ess for an amazing profit and now I want to share my business secrets with you. Rewind back to 1998. I’m pregnant with my first child and know that I don’t want to go back to work. It’s time to bite the bullet, take the bull by the horns and fulfill a lifelong dream – writing which I’ve been doing since the age of 2 (No I’m not pulling your leg – If I’ve told you once I’ve told you a billion times, don’t exagerrate!)

As a secretary of 15 years I wonder if I can fall back on secretarial work and start my own agency. With a mounting pile of bills, money way beyond tight and just $50 capital I invest in my first newspaper ad, saying a prayer to the gods that it works. Thankfully it does and the next week I write three resumes and make back 8 times the cost of the ad. Impressive Resumes is formed from the 2nd hand desk of my tiny lounge room in the flat I share with my (now studying) husband and tiny month old son. I try not to think about the alternatives if I fail, including bankruptcy, stress, and telling my family what happened with my tail between my legs. I find resume writing fulfilling, easy work and get paid to write – what can be better? Over the next 13 years I hone my writing skills to a razors edge, and quickly realise that the trick to marketing people effectively is to write with a focus on results, words that sell and standing out from the pack. I read book after book, spend thousands of hours learning more about the writing craft and join 3 industry associations and learn more than I ever thought was possible. In July 2011 I sell Impressive Resumes for a price I’m more than happy with and discover that many others want to hear about how I did it. I receive emails and phone calls enquiring about the story of how I started the business through to successful sale. From here….the seed of an idea for ResBizPro is born.
