Last week we had the Brisbane Source Expo, and to tell you the truth... I absolutely loved every single part of it. 💜
From the moment we arrived, the organisation was incredible. A huge thank you to Naomi and the entire Source Co team for making everyone feel so welcome. It honestly made such a difference.
We've been to other expos before, and this one just felt different. It felt genuine. The families and participants who came to our booth weren't just looking for freebies—they were looking for answers, connections, support and hope. Those are the conversations that matter.
Seeing how much everyone loved our magic wands, our banner and our booth made me so happy. I spent so much time creating a space that felt warm, welcoming and safe, and seeing people smile as they walked in made every late night worth it.
One of my favourite parts was seeing the response to the colouring book I created. It's more than just a colouring book—it's a visual story that gently explains our services in a fun and engaging way. I thought it was a great idea, but seeing families genuinely connect with it and tell us how much they loved it was the best feeling.
I love thinking outside the box, and I feel incredibly lucky to work somewhere that says, "Hell yeah... go for it!" Having a workplace that trusts your ideas, encourages creativity and lets you be yourself is something I never take for granted.
One of the best parts of the expo was the amazing people we met.
We met Allie from Shyna Promise and... OMG... this girl has the most amazing energy! I had a feeling we were going to click, but when she met Lee and Narelle, the energy between all of us was just incredible. We laughed, shared ideas and instantly connected. Even better, we were urgently trying to find supports for one of our participants, and Shyna Promise was exactly what we were looking for—and so much more. It reminded me how powerful genuine networking can be.
I also met Ruth from Reading and Writing Solutions. This is such an incredibly needed service, especially within our neuroaffirming community. Supporting literacy, learning and confidence can have such a huge impact on people's lives, and I loved hearing more about the work Ruth does.
It was also so lovely to meet Becca from Calming Cocoon. 💜 My son absolutely loves his Calming Cocoon—we honestly can't get him out of it! Seeing him so comfortable and regulated has been amazing. I love the thought that has gone into the design, with enough fabric to comfortably wrap over the shoulders, plenty of space for their feet while sleeping, and extra room to stretch their arms above their head for sensory stimming and self-regulation. It's such a simple idea that can make such a big difference for so many neurodivergent people.
Another wonderful person we met was Alex Forbes from Kidsafe Queensland. I absolutely loved her passion and dedication to keeping children safe. Their mission is simple but so important—to empower parents and caregivers with practical, evidence-based safety advice so they can make informed decisions to help prevent injuries, disability and death for children aged 0–18 across Queensland. You could genuinely feel how much she cares about making a difference.
We also met some incredible providers and built connections that I truly believe will last for years to come. That's what this industry should be about—coming together, supporting each other and making sure participants receive the best possible support.
One connection that really stood out was meeting Donna from Tailored Disability Solutions. She is an incredible Plan Manager, and it was so refreshing to see us naturally referring families to each other because we genuinely believed in what the other offered. There was no competition—just collaboration. That's exactly how it should be.
To everyone who stopped by our booth, had a chat, shared your story, grabbed a magic wand, coloured in with us or simply said hello... thank you. You made the weekend so special.
Walking away from the expo, I wasn't just excited because of the conversations we had—I was excited because of the relationships we started. Those relationships are what will continue making a difference long after the expo is over.
We had an absolute blast, and honestly... we can't wait to do it all again next year. 💜✨
