Connecting with country and community is an important element of high-quality practice and embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives. However, during National Reconciliation Week (NRW), it is especially important to support young children to learn about shared histories, cultures, and achievements. This year’s theme is ‘All in’ and is a great time to promote the learning happening at your service as part of NRW. Practice sharing- Woodwork
Hey Jacqui, here sharing some inspo pics of my woodwork with the children at my preschool. Engaging with woodwork and allowing children to use real tools is risky but so worth it! The rich learning that is happening is amazing. Including:
• Physical strength building, fine motor and coordination using the hammer and glue.
• Creativity and problem-solving skills- in deciding what to build and figuring out how to pt it together.
• Perseverance and resilience as it takes time to hammer through the wood and sometimes things don’t work out as intended.
• Rich language opportunities from using instructional words to descriptive and creative expression.
• Numeracy and maths- measurement, counting, size, shape and position.

New blog- Documentation with a purpose
This blog is all about encouraging educators to engage in some deep critical reflection on why and how they document. Shifting the focus of our documentation from a compliance driven narrative to one that values the process as a key part of our pedagogy. To find out more go to:
