Fostering The Art of Creative Thinking™ through hands on, experiential discovery workshops throughout Australia (onsite and online).

Suitable for schools, corporates and individuals. At the DYA Australia, we provide experiential discovery workshops that focus on developing and enhancing the art of creative thinking. This is done through the DYA Art Of Creative Thinking Model that challenges conventional thinking patterns to encourage a wide variety of both personal and social expressions.

“In every child there is an artist. The problem is to know how to remain an artist when growing up.”

— Pablo Picasso 🎨

With Father’s Day approaching, Picasso’s words remind us of the role fathers and father figures can play in keeping curiosity and creativity alive.

Nurturing creativity doesn’t require being an artist.

It can be asking, “What do you think?”

Encouraging another try when something doesn’t work.

Making space for unusual ideas.

Or simply creating together without worrying about getting it “right.”

At Dya, we believe these shared creative moments give children and adults alike opportunities to observe, question, experiment and discover something new about their own ideas.

This Father’s Day, we’re creating an opportunity to experience exactly that together. 💙🎨

Join us in Port Melbourne for two creative Father’s Day experiences:

✨ Paint in the Dark — step under the UV lights and create glowing artworks together in an immersive painting experience.

🎨 Portrait Printing — explore portraiture through a hands-on printing experience and create something inspired by the person in front of you.

Whether it’s Dad, Grandpa or another special father figure, come spend Father’s Day making, experimenting and creating memories together.

Learning from nature. 🌿🔍

For Science Week, we’re taking a closer look at one of Dya’s education programs: Inventions from Nature.

The natural world is full of remarkable solutions. During this hands-on workshop, students look closely at nature, investigate how different features and systems work, and explore how these observations can inspire human inventions.

Behind the activity is an important creative thinking process: observing what already exists, making unexpected connections and asking, “How could we use this idea differently?”

Students then take inspiration from nature to develop ideas of their own, moving from observation to imagination and invention.

It’s science experienced through curiosity, creativity and discovery—and a reminder that sometimes the inspiration for the next big idea may already be growing, flying or swimming around us.

What happens when you see your colleagues through a Picasso-inspired lens? 🎨

Haileybury staff recently came together for Dya Australia's Paint Your Colleague – Picasso Style workshop, turning familiar faces into bold, playful and wonderfully unexpected portraits.

The experience encouraged participants to move beyond realistic representation, experiment with different perspectives and embrace their own interpretation. Along the way, there was plenty of conversation, laughter and connection.

A creative reminder that sometimes seeing things differently is exactly the point.

FAQ: Do we have to come to Dya for a creative workshop? 🎨

Not at all. We travel to you.

While we love welcoming groups to our Port Melbourne studios, Dya’s artist-led workshops can also be delivered at your workplace, school or chosen venue across Melbourne.

We bring the creative experience with us, including the materials and artist guidance needed for your selected workshop.

For schools, that means creative incursions can become part of the school day. For corporate teams, your workplace or event venue can become a space for creativity, connection and fresh thinking.

Whether you come to us or we come to you, the Dya experience is designed to encourage participants to explore, experiment and think differently.

Your place or ours—the creative thinking comes with us. 🎨

What actually happens at a Shake, Sip & Paint? 🎨🥤

Before the finished canvases and group photos, there’s a whole creative process happening.

At a Dya Shake, Sip & Paint, participants settle in with a drink, pick up a brush and begin exploring the artwork with guidance from our artists.

But everyone doesn’t have to create the exact same thing.

As the session unfolds, colours change, individual touches appear and each canvas begins to reflect the person behind it. There’s conversation across the tables, plenty of laughter, moments of concentration—and sometimes a little surprise at what people discover they can create.

Our artists are there throughout the experience to demonstrate techniques, offer guidance and encourage participants to trust their own creative decisions.

That’s a little look behind the scenes at Shake, Sip & Paint: creating, experimenting and enjoying the process together.

Are your people afraid to think—or do they feel safe enough to make mistakes?

Innovation doesn’t begin only with brilliant ideas. It begins with the inner drive to act, explore, and experiment.

In a team where every idea is judged immediately, people contribute less.

But when the questions become:

What are we noticing?

What other possibilities could exist?

How might we develop this idea?

Unexpected solutions and new directions begin to emerge.

At Dya, we use collaborative creative processes to develop a culture of curiosity, listening, and shared growth.

A creative organisation is one where people feel safe to think aloud, ask questions, experiment, and turn mistakes into opportunities for everyone.

Ready to create a space where your people can think, feel, and grow together?

When creativity glows, so do the connections. ✨🎨

The team from Certifer recently joined us at Dya Australia for a Paint in the Dark team-building experience.

Under UV lights, the studio transformed into a vibrant creative space where colleagues stepped away from their everyday routines to paint, connect and enjoy a unique shared experience. Every canvas reflected a different perspective, making the workshop as memorable as the artworks themselves.

Thank you, Certifer, for spending the day creating with us. It was a pleasure hosting your team!

Connection begins with creating together. 🤲✨

Dya Australia recently visited Essence Communities for our Clay Connections workshop, where residents explored creativity through the hands-on experience of working with clay.

As each piece took shape, so did conversations, laughter and meaningful connections. It was wonderful to see everyone express their creativity while enjoying the process of making something uniquely their own.

Thank you to the Essence Communities team for welcoming us. We always enjoy bringing creative experiences into your community.
