Children had a wonderful hands-on cooking experience making scones. They explored the ingredients by measuring, pouring, and mixing them together to form the dough. Children used their hands to shape the mixture into small, round scones, developing their fine motor skills and understanding of texture and consistency. They showed excitement and curiosity throughout the process, observing how the ingredients combined and changed. Once the scones were shaped, the children carefully placed them into the oven for baking. This experience encouraged independence, teamwork, sensory exploration, and an early understanding of simple cooking processes from start to finish.

π§π Little Scientists at Work β Water, Ice & Sea Creature Rescue! π π§
Yesterday, the children helped prepare our sea creature rescue experiment by placing small sea animals into ziplock bags filled with water. We talked about how water can change from a liquid to a solid and predicted what would happen when the bags were placed in the freezer.
Today, our little scientists were excited to begin the rescue mission! The frozen sea creatures were trapped inside blocks of ice, and the children explored different ways to free them. They used a variety of tools, including child-safe hammers, spoons, forks, and water, to investigate which method would melt or break the ice most effectively.
The children carefully observed, tested their ideas, and compared the results. They discovered that warm water melted the ice the fastest, making it the quickest way to rescue the sea creatures. The hammer was the next most effective tool, followed by the spoon, while the fork took the longest time.
Through this hands-on experiment, the children developed their observation, prediction, problem-solving, and scientific inquiry skills while having lots of fun.

During our bush walk to Skeleton Creek today, the children made many exciting discoveries. They heard birds chirping but could not see them, leading to discussions about where the birds might be hiding. The children observed a large ant emerging from an ant nest and were fascinated by its movements. They also found some brown objects on the ground, which they called βlava potatoes,β and were curious to learn more about them. On a tree, the children noticed a sticky substance and suggested it might be glue from the tree. Photos were taken and brought back to the classroom so the children can further investigate and identify their discoveries through research and discussion.
