The Dream big FDC group had such a fabulous Friday at BillaBean cafe today. They are always SO welcoming and put on a great storytime session complete with crafts, free babychino and cookies! The children had such a great time we even stayed for lunch and a play in the garden.

We hope everyone is having as good an end to the week as us!!

Today’s lunch was a big hit! ( sausage and broccoli pasta served with tomato and bread and butter ) we had a big group and everyone ate SO well!
I believe on days that we have great eaters and older children to role model good table manners and great eating behaviours much more is devoured and skills such as using our cutlery are much more successful.

“Group mealtimes are foundational to early childhood development, serving as an interactive educational environment rather than just a time to consume food. When young children eat together in a group—whether at home with family or in an early childhood education and care (ECEC) setting—they rely heavily on social observation and imitation to shape their relationship with food.”- ACECQUA

FYI parents!
Incase your setting up a fun role play kitchen for your little ones but find the usual pretend foods a bit expensive and boring try using these pasta clips ( on special at Kmart $1.50 a pack) and these toast slices-make up sponges ( on clearance $4 a pack) as a fun alternative.

Today we welcomed Karina into our daycare from Elite family daycare offices to perform our annual reassessment.

The purpose of each annual venue assessments in family daycare is to ensure the ongoing health, safety, and wellbeing of children by identifying and managing hazards, verifying compliance with the Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA), and maintaining a safe, suitable home environment.

As always Dream big FDC was able to meet all these requirements and also enjoy the opportunity to showcase some of our set ups and recent activities.

Elite family daycare are such a supportive scheme and the staff are amazing. As an educator I would 100% reccomend them.

Painting is requested often here at Dream BIG. Each time I set it up I try to do it a little differently such as using sponges, brushes or even spring egg cups! Using large scale canvases or small bits of paper and so on.. this sparks curiosity and interest each time.

Today we’ve used table top easels, a selection of water colours and fine tip brushes and had classical music playing to inspire the children too.

All artworks, once dry, are lovingly displayed in each child’s journal and sent home at the end of the year as a keepsake.

Today my little group visited Piara waters library for the Friday morning storytime. The librarian who runs the event does such a great job at capturing the children’s attention with the fun and animated way he brings the stories to life! He also incorporates sign language and additional lyrics to rhymes that I didn’t even know!
Each session has a theme and today’s was Boats!

We love attending story sessions as I try to foster a love and appreciation for books with all the children whilst getting out into our local community meeting other mums, family daycare groups and children of similar ages.

EYLF: 5.2.3 Children enjoy singing rhymes and jingles DM 2-3yr Language 5 children like listening to stories and books.

Today at Dream big FDC we hosted a BIG play date! 3x local FDC groups coming together to encourage the children to build extended friendships, to share and take turns in a safe and fun space.

Tiny tribe FDC operated by Mel in Aubin grove
& Naps & Nappies FDC operated by Blair in Seville grove.

Having an opportunity to make lots of friends, to feel safe & accepted in a fun and familiar space gives young children the ability to learn from one another, to practice social skills and build a strong sense of belonging.

EYLF 1.3.15 children feel accepted and affirm their group membership 2.1.1 children identify themselves as being part of family and community groups.

All meals are provided at Dream big FDC.

I believe it’s important each child is encouraged to eat a variety of foods and there’s magic at mealtimes in FDC… foods your child might not touch at home are devoured here!! That’s often because they see their friends enjoying the food and are more likely to try things.

Everyday the group are provided with various seasonal fruits and vegetables and a good balance between foods that are tried and true, and then foods that are new and open us up to new flavours…
My menu is seasonal and very flexible, I like to offer options and give the children choices.

Did you know your childcare service must obtain a special council approval to serve meals? Much like your local restaurant they are audited annually and must have up to date training in food preparation and hygiene.
Those that provide meals must meet set guidelines & standards but are also different in what exactly they provide with some operating as a lunchbox service it’s all part of the beauty and variety of family daycare.

If your child has special dietary needs or you have questions about the meals provided to your child I always welcome my families to have to have a chat. 😊
