The Royal Flying Doctor Service of Western Australia warmly invite you and your members to join us in Jandakot for a Community Conversation about the RFDS, our services today and plans for the future.

When: Tuesday 15 September 2026

Where: Royal Aero Club of Western Australia, 41 Eagle Drive, Jandakot WA 6164

Time: 4.30pm arrival for a 5pm start.

We will provide an update on the Flying Doctors’ impact throughout Perth and Western Australia and an overview of our projects on the horizon.

The conversations will continue with light refreshments and catering after the presentation.

30 years in helicopter rescue. Countless high-pressure jobs. Now he’s the one selecting the next generation of aircrew.

I sat down with Blair Robertson, Chief Aircrew Officer at CHC Helicopter and Offshore Services Australasia, to unpack the realities of a career spent in helicopter rescue.

Blair’s journey began as a volunteer Rescue Crew Officer with Southern Peninsula Rescue Squad. Three decades later, he now oversees the standards, training and selection of operational aircrew.

That means he has seen this industry from both sides: the RCO hanging on the wire… and the leader deciding who is ready to wear the harness.

Big news for Western Australia 🚁✈️

The first Pilatus PC-12 PRO for RFDS WA is officially on its way! Yesterday’s flight marked another major step in the journey, with the aircraft now just days away from arriving here in WA.

Currently flying under its Swiss registration HB-FUC (visible at the top left section of the image), this brand-new addition is set to boost the life-saving capabilities of the Royal Flying Doctor Service across some of the most remote parts of the state.

The Pilatus PC-12 is known for its reliability, versatility, and ability to land on short, unsealed airstrips making it the perfect platform for critical care retrieval missions.

Not long now until it touches down and begins making a real difference where it matters most.

A New Era for Aeromedical Care in Western Australia the Royal Flying Doctor Service WA has unveiled its newest aircraft, the Pilatus PC-12 Pro, marking the beginning of a major fleet modernisation program that will enhance aeromedical services across Western Australia. The new aircraft is one of three PC-12 PRO aircraft scheduled to join the RFDS WA fleet in 2026, forming the first stage of a broader upgrade that will see eight new aircraft introduced by 2030.
